Was planning to have this biriyani from long ago but the time has come now only. The wait was perfect for such a good biriyani, really worth for the hype and price. The chilli chicken is also very good. They have plenty of parking space and have to wait for a while even on a working day. So if you are in palakkad and a biriyani lover just try this . Hardly a 10 mins drive from town
We visited this NMR Restaurant on our way back to Kochi from our Coimbatore trip. This is the first and oldest branch of NMR. There are newer NMR restaurants in Palakkad now, but this one is the OG. The restaurant is in an old building that gives a traditional Tamil style biriyani. We tried their beef biriyani, and it was absolutely delicious. It was served with a few different gravies, which made the taste even better. The biriyani had a very authentic flavor and felt like a classic Tamil style preparation. The place may look simple and old, but the food quality is excellent. It’s definitely worth stopping here if you are passing through Palakkad. I feel this is a must visit spot for food lovers who want to try traditional tamil style biriyani in Palakkad. Loved the place and the food!
We visited on Sunday around 3 PM, and unfortunately, mutton biriyani was already sold out. Without much expectation, we decided to try the Beef Ravuthar Biriyani—and it turned out to be an excellent choice. For the price, the taste was outstanding, making it a must-try for anyone who loves beef biriyani. We also ordered the chicken fry, which was equally impressive—crispy, flavourful, and truly mouth-watering. Overall, a satisfying experience despite the limited options.
Tried Rauthar Biriyani and honestly felt it was just average. Not sure why there’s so much hype around it. The biriyani was normal, nothing special or above average. Overall, it’s decent and one-time tryable. We also had chicken fries and beef fries, and both were good — crispy and tasty. The atmosphere is very basic, and hygiene could definitely be improved.
