★★★★☆
Headed to Yumm Keralam on Bishop Road, Bangalore yesterday evening, was in the mood for some solid Kerala flavors after a long week. The place has such a cool vibe with two seating floors, and one section had this fun jhula-style seating that added a nice traditional touch. Felt super cozy despite it being a busy weekend night.
What I Ordered and the Food
Ordered the chicken curry – rich, spicy, and full of that authentic coconutty goodness, paired perfectly with fluffy ghee rice. The roasted prawns were a standout, juicy, well-seasoned with Kerala spices, and not overcooked at all. Topped it off with soft, fermented appams that soaked up the curries just right. Everything was fresh and flavorful; portions were generous too.
Service and Ambiance
Even with the rush on a weekend, the staff managed everything smoothly, our order came out quick without much wait time. Super efficient and friendly, which made the whole experience hassle-free. The ambiance nails that homely Kerala feel with the multi-level seating and unique jhula spots
We had dinner at Yumm Keralam tonight, and the authentic Kerala cuisine really blew us away! Every dish was delicious with perfectly balanced, medium spice levels. We tried the Koodal Curry, chicken curry, idiyappam, appam, and a few other items—not a single dish disappointed. The prices are very reasonable, and the play area for kids was a great bonus. The only minor improvement would be serving the idiyappam hotter, but overall, it was a fantastic Kerala dining experience.
Yumm Keralam offers a pleasant ambience and a comfortable dining experience. The food is tasty and well-prepared, making it a good place to enjoy authentic Kerala cuisine.
However, a major drawback is the frequent unavailability of menu items. This has happened both while ordering online and during dine-in visits, which can be quite frustrating when you're looking forward to specific dishes. Better stock management would significantly improve the overall experience.
Good food and ambience, but the recurring out-of-stock issue brings down the rating.
