The best order and pay apps for UK restaurants and pubs in 2026, scored
Updated 20 October 2026
For most UK venues, the best order and pay app is Storekit if you want split bills and tabs on the guest's phone, Menuthere if you want the lowest fixed cost and your own Stripe account, and Square if you already use Square's till. sunday, QikServe and me&u suit groups that need deep EPOS links and are happy to get a quote. Every app here lets guests scan a QR code, order and pay on their phone with no app download. They differ on cost, bill tools, till links, whose payment account you use, and contract.
Menuthere publishes this list and includes itself. Every price comes from each company's own pages, on the date shown. Nobody paid to be listed. Menuthere scores highest on our method, but we never rank our own product first, so it sits second.

Ranking: by total score, except that Menuthere (our product) is never placed first. Storekit and Square tie on 8; Storekit ranks higher because bill tools matter most for paying at the table.
1. Storekit
Best for: UK restaurants and pizzerias that want guests to order, add to a tab, split and pay from their phone.
- Price: Storekit's pricing page (July 2026) listed dine-in on Storekit+ at £99 a month on a 12-month plan, or £149 rolling, and Storekit++ at £199 or £399. The free Basic plan is takeaway only. Storekit has renamed and re-priced plans during 2026, so confirm which plan includes dine-in.
- Fees: 0% commission. Storekit takes payments itself and its card rate for dine-in was 1.9% + 15p (pricing page, November 2025).
- Good: QR ordering, pay-at-table, digital bills and an "add-to-bill" tab; its product pages say guests can "pay the whole bill or split it" from their phone. Tipping and an optional service charge. EPOS and delivery integrations on paid plans. Payouts in 48 hours.
- Catches: you must use Storekit's payments, not your own Stripe. The cheapest dine-in price needs a 12-month commitment. Its site blocks automated checks, so the prices here are from archived copies.
Pick Storekit over Menuthere if guests need to split bills or run a tab on their phone, or you want EPOS integration.
2. Menuthere
Best for: independent restaurants, pubs and cafés that want order and pay at the table with a low monthly cost and the money in their own Stripe account.
- Price: Free plan for ordering (50 orders a month, guests pay at the counter or by card machine). Card payments at the table need Lite at US$17 a month (billed in US dollars; your bank converts it), or US$170 a year. 7-day free trial on Lite and Pro; a card is needed to start, and nothing is charged until it ends.
- Fees: 0% commission on every plan. Stripe charges its own fee: 1.5% + 20p for standard UK cards, 2.8% + 20p for premium UK cards.
- Good: no app or account for guests. Apple Pay and Google Pay if you switch them on in your Stripe account. Rounds join one open table order; on Lite, guests can pay the whole bill online once staff mark it completed. Optional tips and percentage service charge at checkout. The same menu takes collection and delivery orders.
- Catches: no in-app bill splitting (staff split at the till). No third-party UK EPOS integrations; counter billing is a paid add-on. No kiosks. Plans are priced in US dollars.
See order and pay at table with Menuthere.
3. Square
Best for: cafés, bars and restaurants already using Square's till and card readers.
- Price: Square for Restaurants Free is £0 a month; Plus is £69 a month per location (30-day trial). Self-serve ordering for Square Online sellers costs nothing extra.
- Fees: online card payments 1.4% + 25p for UK cards (2.5% + 25p non-UK); in person 1.75%. No commission.
- Good: QR codes per table or ordering station; orders reach the till and kitchen printers as tickets with the table number; no app for guests. One system for till, card machine, online orders and kiosks (£35 per device a month).
- Catches: you must use Square's payments. Self-serve ordering needs Square's online ordering page switched on. Square's restaurant pricing page doesn't list bill splitting or tabs for QR orders.
Pick Square over Menuthere if you already run Square at the till and want table orders in the same system.
4. QikServe (The Access Group)
Best for: pub, bar and hotel groups on Access EPoS Evo.
- Price (ex VAT, per site a month): Online Ordering from £109.87, Open Check £110.60, Pay at Table £75.60, POS Connection £35, plus £300 one-off setup per site. Estates of 21+ sites are quoted.
- Good: web-based order and pay with no app or account; Open Check lets guests run a tab across the visit and pay once at the end; Pay at Table settles a staff-created bill from the guest's phone. Native link to EPoS Evo and an open API for others.
- Catches: payment rates aren't published; Online Ordering needs POS Connect and a payment connection unless you use QikServe Payments. Price depends on contract length, which isn't published.
5. sunday
Best for: sit-down restaurants whose main problem is the wait for the bill.
- Price (UK): Standard £149 a month (includes Hybrid, Order & Pay, tips and digital bill), Premium £199. Add-ons from £25 to £50 a month. QR codes £3.50 + VAT each.
- Good: "Scan, split, tip, pay" in about 10 seconds with no app; guests can order and reorder from the same QR. Connects to many EPOS systems. sunday says 5,000+ restaurants use it.
- Catches: payment fees aren't on its pricing page. Its UK user terms say diners paying through sunday may be charged a service fee. No self-serve sign-up: you book a demo.
Compare: sunday alternatives.
6. me&u
Best for: large pubs, bars and venues that want ordering, payments, CRM and loyalty in one guest platform.
- Price: quote only; every product page says "Talk to sales". me&u's Australian help centre describes its fee as a share of each order of up to 4.5%; it doesn't publish a UK rate.
- Good: 70+ integrated POS partners; Apple Pay, Google Pay and saved cards; pre-authorised group tabs for events; tipping prompts.
- Catches: no published UK price or contract terms. Its UK Pay page doesn't describe bill splitting.
Compare: me&u alternatives.
What a month costs: a worked example
A pub takes 600 paid table orders a month at £30 (£18,000), all on standard UK cards.
| Monthly fee | Card / payment fees | Month total | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Menuthere (Lite + Stripe 1.5% + 20p) | US$17 | £390 | £390 + US$17 |
| Square Free (1.4% + 25p online) | £0 | £402 | £402 |
| Storekit+ (12-month, 1.9% + 15p dine-in) | £99 | £432 | £531 |
| QikServe (Online Ordering + POS Connection) | £144.87 + VAT | Not published | £144.87 + VAT + payment fees (+ £300 setup) |
| sunday Standard | £149 | Not published | £149 + payment fees |
| me&u | Quote | Quote | Quote |
Per order: Stripe £0.45 + 20p = 65p; Square £0.42 + 25p = 67p; Storekit £0.57 + 15p = 72p. Premium and non-UK cards cost more on every provider.
UK rules to check, whichever app you choose
- No card surcharges. UK law bans surcharges on consumer card payments, so build card costs into your prices.
- Tips and service charges must be passed to workers in full, under the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023, in force since 1 October 2024. A discretionary service charge must be optional. See our service charge guide.
- Guest fees: some apps can add a fee for the diner. Ask before you sign, and make sure it's shown before the guest pays.
- Allergens: your QR menu must give allergen information or tell guests how to ask.
How we chose
- Sold to UK venues today, with order and pay at the table by QR code and no app download for guests.
- Prices in pounds from each company's own pages where it publishes them, with the date we read them. Menuthere's plans are in US dollars.
- Left out: Flipdish (its UK pricing page lists no order-and-pay price; quote from sales), Lightspeed and Toast (order and pay comes with their own POS, so it isn't a stand-alone app), Zonal's Order & Pay (quote only, for large estates) and Epos Now's Order & Pay (sold with its till by quote).

FAQs
What is the best order and pay app in the UK?
On our scoring, Storekit ranks first for split bills and tabs on the guest's phone, Menuthere second for the lowest fixed cost with your own Stripe account, and Square third for venues already on Square's till. Menuthere scores highest, but we never rank our own product first.
How much does an order and pay app cost in the UK?
From £0 a month plus card fees (Square Free) to £149 a month or more plus payment fees (sunday Standard). Menuthere's Lite plan is US$17 a month plus Stripe's 1.5% + 20p per standard UK card. Large-venue platforms such as me&u are quote only.
Which order and pay apps let guests split the bill?
Storekit says guests can pay the whole bill or split it from their phone, and sunday's digital bill lets guests scan, split, tip and pay. Menuthere and Square don't split a bill in the app; staff split it at the till.
Do guests need to download an app to order and pay?
No, not with any app on this list. Guests scan a QR code and the menu opens in their phone's browser.
Can I use my own Stripe account for order and pay?
With Menuthere, yes: payments go to your own Stripe account on Lite and above. Storekit, Square and sunday take payments through their own services.
Can an order and pay app add a fee for my guests?
Some can. sunday's UK user terms say diners paying through sunday may be charged a service fee. Ask each provider before you sign and check the guest sees any fee before paying. Menuthere doesn't add a fee for guests.
