What are Uber Eats' plans and fees in France?
Uber Eats has three plans. Essential takes 15% when Uber delivers, with no pickup and little visibility. Standard takes 30% on delivery and 15% on pickup. Premium takes 33% on delivery and 10% on pickup, with more visibility and ads. All three add €1.99 a week, and 20% VAT applies on the fees.
| Plan | Uber delivers | Pickup | On top |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | 15% | — | €1.99/week + 20% VAT |
| Standard | 30% | 15% | €1.99/week + 20% VAT |
| Premium | 33% | 10% | €1.99/week + 20% VAT |
The ads you buy and the offers you fund are charged on top, plus VAT. Uber's French terms also provide for a one-off activation fee, set in your order form, which the pricing page doesn't show an amount for.
Does commission cost more than my own site?
It depends on your volume. Commission grows with sales: the more you sell on the app, the more you pay. A flat fee doesn't move whether you take 10 orders or 1,000. Once your orders cover the fee, every order after that keeps its full value. On Menuthere's Free plan there is no fee at all up to 50 orders a month.
| Uber Eats (France) | Your own site | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost model | 15–33% per delivered order | Flat fee, 0% per order |
| Cost at 100 orders | Grows with every order | The same as at 10 orders |
| Who owns the customer | The app | You |
| Starting cost | €1.99/week from order one | $0 on the Free plan |
What about Deliveroo? Should I leave the apps?
Deliveroo doesn't publish its rate in France; it's set in your contract. Trade guides put it at roughly 25–35% when its riders deliver and about 14–20% if you deliver yourself — treat these as ballpark figures, with 20% VAT on the fees. Many restaurants keep the apps for discovery and push their regulars to their own commission-free link.
- A printable QR code on tables and packaging.
- An order link on your Google listing.
- Your WhatsApp number, so regulars reorder in a chat.
- The link in your Instagram and Facebook bio.
Who this is a good fit for
- Restaurants, cafés or bakeries that already get repeat orders and want to stop losing a cut on every one.
- Owners who can send customers to their own link through a QR code, Google, Instagram and WhatsApp.
- Those who want to start free and move to a paid plan only when the extra features pay for themselves.
Who this is not for
- A brand-new place with no customer base: an Uber Eats or Deliveroo marketplace can bring the first orders while you build your own channel alongside it.
- An owner who wants someone else to run the delivery riders; your own system means your own or a courier's delivery.
Common follow-up questions
Does Uber Eats add VAT on top?
Yes. Uber's French terms say its fees exclude VAT and the restaurant pays VAT on top, at the standard 20% rate. A VAT-registered business can usually deduct it.
Does Uber Eats charge a separate card fee?
No. Uber Eats includes payment processing in every plan, with no separate card fee. With your own site, your payment gateway charges the card fee, separately from Menuthere.
Can I really start free with my own site?
Yes. Menuthere's Free plan is $0 and includes 50 orders a month, your menu, an ordering site and QR codes. Past 50 orders the menu turns view-only until the 1st, or you upgrade to a paid plan.
