Do I need an insulated bag for food delivery?
Updated 7 October 2026
Usually yes. Food must reach the customer safe. The UK Food Standards Agency says to use an insulated box or cool bag for chilled food, and food-grade packaging.
- India (FSSAI): hot food at 65 C or above, food meant to be eaten cold at 5 C or below.
- England, Wales and Northern Ireland: food that supports bacterial growth at 63 C or above, or at 8 C or below.
- Limits differ by country, so check the rule where you sell.
- Keep hot and cold food apart, and tell customers when to expect delivery.
