Should I refund a suspicious online order instead of waiting for a dispute?

For small orders, refunding often costs less. Stripe says the best time to refund an early fraud warning is on charges about equal to or less than your dispute fee.

• Compare the order total with the dispute fee before you decide.
• Cancelling a payment before it completes costs nothing.
• If you refund after a payment succeeds, Stripe does not return its original processing fee.
• On a large order, gather your evidence and let the dispute run.
