What will my customers see on their card statement for online orders?
Updated 15 October 2026
Your statement descriptor. On Stripe it must be 5 to 22 characters, in Latin letters, with at least one letter, and it should match your trading name.
- It cannot contain these characters: < > \ ' " *. A website address alone is accepted only if it clearly describes the charge.
- A clear name helps customers recognise the charge, which can reduce chargebacks and disputes.
- Card payments can add a short suffix after a prefix, with the whole text still at most 22 characters.
- Most banks show it as set, but some show it incorrectly or not at all.
Be recognised on every statement
Online payments from your Menuthere link go to your own gateway account. The name on the statement is the business name you set there, so customers recognise it.
