Should I ask for payment before cooking a WhatsApp order?
Updated 9 October 2026
It depends on the order. For large, custom or far-away orders, take payment or a deposit first. For small regular orders, cash on delivery or pay at pickup is common.
- Say your rule before the customer orders, so nobody is surprised.
- Paying inside WhatsApp works only in some countries: India, Brazil, Mexico and Indonesia are listed.
- Elsewhere, send a payment link, give bank details or take cash.
- Check payments before you cook. Do not trust a screenshot alone.
Let customers pay online or in cash
At checkout customers choose cash or online payment, and online payments settle from your own gateway account to you. You decide which orders need payment first.
