The best restaurant pre-order apps, scored

A pre-order app lets a customer place an order now for a time they choose later — a lunch collected at noon, a cake for Saturday, a festival pre-order. These seven take scheduled orders through the restaurant's own page and charge 0% commission on them, so what the customer pays is what the kitchen keeps. Four include scheduled ordering on a free plan, and published prices start at $9.90 a month.

1. Take App

Small restaurants, cafés and home kitchens in almost any country that already take orders on WhatsApp and want a free menu link where customers order ahead for pickup, delivery or a table.

Take App gives a restaurant a free menu link where customers order for delivery, pickup or at the table by QR code, with scheduled orders and 0% commission. The Basic plan is free; Business is $50 a month, and it works with local payment methods in about 25 countries.

Customers pay through the restaurant's own gateway account. Take App lists 32 gateways, including Stripe, PayPal, Xendit, Razorpay, Paystack, Flutterwave, Mercado Pago, M-Pesa Express, HitPay, Adyen, Paymob and Tap, and 128 payment methods in all. The country pages list local methods such as M-Pesa, Airtel, Paystack, Flutterwave and Pesapal in Kenya, and Mercado Pago, OXXO, CoDi and Clip in Mexico. Manual methods (bank transfer, QR such as PayNow, cash on delivery, with payment-proof upload) work on the free plan. Automatic card payments need Business. Take App says it never holds the restaurant's money.

Includes: Own ordering website · QR table ordering · Pickup · Delivery orders · Your own drivers · Scheduled orders · Online payments · POS · Loyalty · Marketing tools · WhatsApp ordering or updates · Multiple locations · Reservations

  • Free Basic plan with 0% commission and unlimited products, and 0% commission on the $50-a-month Business plan too (Take App pricing page).
  • Takes no payment-processing fee on any method: the connected gateway charges its own rate and pays the restaurant directly (Take App help centre, Payment Processing Fee).
  • Local payment methods in many markets, for example M-Pesa, Airtel, Pesapal, Paystack and Flutterwave in Kenya; Paystack, Flutterwave and NIBSS/NQR in Nigeria; and Mercado Pago, OXXO, CoDi and Clip in Mexico (Take App country pages; 32 gateways on the integrations page).
  • The free plan saves only 50 orders a month to the dashboard. After that, orders still reach the restaurant's WhatsApp but are not saved to the dashboard (Take App pricing page).
  • Card payments, automated WhatsApp order updates, a custom domain, the delivery-fee calculator, courier and driver tracking, loyalty and analytics all need the Business plan at $50 a month (Take App pricing comparison and FAQ).
  • Business includes 1,000 automated WhatsApp messages a month. After that, each message costs $0.05, and each store over five costs $8 (Take App pricing page).

3. OlaClick

Small restaurants, cafés and dark kitchens in Latin America that want a low-cost, commission-free ordering menu with scheduled orders, WhatsApp ordering and a simple POS.

OlaClick gives a restaurant a digital menu and ordering site with QR, table and WhatsApp ordering, scheduled orders and 0% commission. A free plan covers 10 orders a month; the Advanced plan is $9.90 a month billed annually, the lowest published price on this list.

Online payments
Online payments depend on the country: D24 (cards, bank transfers and local methods) is available in most countries where OlaClick operates but not in Brazil; OlaPago, processed by dLocal, is available only to accounts in Peru; in Brazil the help centre covers PIX online through Tuna, credit cards through Stripe and Stone card machines at the POS. The Google Play listing also names Nequi, Daviplata, Mercado Pago and WebPay. Restaurants can also set up manual (offline) payment methods.

Includes: Own ordering website · QR table ordering · Pickup · Delivery orders · Your own drivers · Scheduled orders · Online payments · POS · Loyalty · Marketing tools · WhatsApp ordering or updates · Delivery-app integration · Multiple locations

  • No commission on orders: OlaClick charges only a fixed monthly fee, and the restaurant receives payments directly (OlaClick pricing page FAQ).
  • Low entry price: a free plan with 10 orders a month, and paid plans from US$9.90 a month on annual billing, priced in local currency in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru (OlaClick pricing page and 2026 plans article).
  • One product covers the ordering menu with its own domain, QR and table ordering, WhatsApp ordering and an AI chatbot, a POS with a waiter app, delivery management with a rider app, loyalty and, from the Premium plan up, a kitchen screen (OlaClick home page and pricing page).
  • Order caps on the cheaper plans: 10 orders a month on Free, 75 on Advanced and 400 on Premium; only Elite (US$59 a month on annual billing) and Infinity have unlimited orders (OlaClick 2026 plans article and pricing page).
  • The headline prices are for 12-month plans paid upfront; paying month to month costs more, for example US$12 instead of US$9.90 for Advanced (OlaClick pricing page).
  • Several tools are country-limited: OlaClick says online payments, POS integrations, delivery-app integrations and electronic invoices are available only in some countries; electronic invoicing is only for Brazil and Colombia, OlaPago is Peru-only and D24 is not offered in Brazil (OlaClick pricing page and help centre).

Includes: Own ordering website · QR table ordering · Pickup · Delivery orders · Your own drivers · Scheduled orders · Online payments · Loyalty · Marketing tools · Branded app · Delivery-app integration · Multiple locations · Menu translation

  • 0% commission on every plan and channel, no setup fee, and a free Basic plan for pickup and delivery with no monthly fee. Basic, Grow and Pro are rolling monthly, cancel any time (pricing page).
  • One platform for pickup, delivery, catering pre-orders, QR order & pay, pay-at-table, digital tabs, kiosks and a native branded app (App Studio). It works standalone or connects to the till: Deliverect on every plan, Toast, Square, Lightspeed and Stream from Grow, Syrve, Tissl and 3S POS on Pro (pricing page).
  • Delivery can go to the restaurant's own riders or be dispatched to couriers: Uber Direct and Shipday from Basic, Nash, Pedal Me and Orkestro from Grow (the homepage also names Deliveroo Express), with live tracking for guests (homepage, pricing page).
  • Every paid order carries Storekit's own card rate, and the current pricing page no longer publishes the figures. The docs list 3.9% + 20p per takeaway order on a rolling plan (2.9% + 20p on a 12-month plan) and 3.9% + 20p on catering.
  • In-venue and catering ordering need paid plans: QR order & pay, pay-at-table and digital tabs need Pro (£199 a month rolling), catering needs Grow (£99), and POS integrations other than Deliverect start on Grow. App Studio adds £99 a month and kiosks £69 a month plus £30 per extra screen (pricing page).
  • Loyalty, the till and table bookings come from other systems: loyalty and CRM integrations are not on Basic (Klaviyo, Leat and Como from Grow; Airship and Acteol on Pro), Storekit sits alongside an existing POS rather than replacing it, and bookings come through an OpenTable integration (pricing page, docs).

How we scored them

Every score, so you can check the order.

Ranked by total score. Menuthere is our product and ties for the top score (10 of 10), but we never rank our own product first, so it sits second; Take App takes first on the same score. Storekit also scores 10 and sits fifth — among the three tens, ties are broken by how widely each is sold and the lowest price to start, so the worldwide Take App and Menuthere come before UK-only Storekit. Lower ties are broken by the lowest published monthly price to start pre-orders.

When a rival is the better choice

Pick another system over Menuthere if…

  • Take App: You already take orders on WhatsApp, sell in a country Stripe doesn't cover, or want a free pre-order link with no monthly fee at all.
  • OlaClick: You run a café or dark kitchen in Latin America and want the lowest published monthly price with WhatsApp ordering and a simple POS and kitchen screen.
  • UpMenu: You want the store set up for you, a branded app, and loyalty and marketing in the same paid platform.
  • Storekit: You are in the UK and want catering pre-orders, pay-at-table and a native branded app in the same commission-free platform.
  • Slerp: You want branded web and app pre-ordering with couriers arranged and delivery support run for you.
  • ChowNow: You want ChowNow's team to set up the website, menu and POS link, plus a diner marketplace, and a flat monthly fee suits your volume.

How we chose them

What put a system on this list.

  • A system qualifies if its dated profile on Menuthere says it takes scheduled or pre-orders through the restaurant's own ordering channel, it is active, and it takes no commission on those orders.
  • Each system is scored on five criteria worth up to 2 points each (10 in all). The rubric and every score are in the table above, and each point comes from a fact in the system's profile.
  • Card processing is left out of the scores because every system charges it, through its own payments or the restaurant's own processor. Prices are each company's published prices on the date in its profile.
  • Nobody paid to be on this list. Prices change: check each company's own page before you sign.

Questions

Answered, plainly.

An app or website where a customer places an order now for a time they choose later — a lunch collected at noon, a cake for the weekend, or a festival order days ahead. The order reaches the kitchen with the time attached, so staff can prepare it for when the customer arrives or the driver leaves.

Yes. Take App, Menuthere, OlaClick and Storekit all include scheduled ordering on a free plan. Menuthere's free plan covers 50 orders a month, OlaClick's covers 10, and Take App's menu link is free with local payment methods; Storekit's Basic plan takes orders at no monthly fee.

The seven here take 0% commission on orders through the restaurant's own channel. A few charge a fee on specific order types — for example ChowNow charges 5% on catering pre-orders placed through the direct channel. Card processing is separate and charged by the payment provider, not the app.

Yes. All seven take scheduled orders for pickup; most also handle delivery. Menuthere and OlaClick support the restaurant's own delivery drivers (Menuthere on Pro, $39 a month), while Slerp arranges courier delivery for you.

Among apps with a published price, OlaClick's Advanced plan is the lowest at $9.90 a month billed annually. Menuthere's Lite is $17 a month, and UpMenu starts at $49 a location. Take App, Menuthere, OlaClick and Storekit also take scheduled orders on a free plan.
