Free breakfast menu template for UK cafés and hotels
Updated 20 October 2026
Copy the free breakfast menu template below, add your full English, rolls, brunch plates and hot drinks with £ prices, and print it on A4 or A5, or make it in our free menu maker and download a PDF. It's built for a UK breakfast trade: a full English with extras you can add, rolls and baps for the morning rush, brunch plates, and a "served until" line. It shows why a bacon roll is 20% VAT even to take away, and which breakfast items carry the most allergens. Then put the same menu online so it only shows in the morning.
In short
- Say when breakfast stops: "Breakfast served until 11:30". Online, a breakfast dish can show only until that time, every day or on chosen days.
- Hot rolls and toasted items are 20% VAT even to take away (heated to order), and so are tea and coffee. A cold yoghurt pot to take away is generally zero-rated.
- Build-your-own extras: list them with a price each ("Extra egg 80p, black pudding £1.20") so the bill matches the board.
- Allergens to check: eggs, gluten in toast and many sausages, milk in butter, and sulphites, which some sausages and dried fruit contain.

| Cereals containing gluten | Toast, rolls, many sausages and black puddings, porridge oats unless certified |
| Milk | Butter, hollandaise, porridge made with milk, halloumi |
| Sulphur dioxide and sulphites | Some sausages and dried fruit; check the label |
| Mustard | Some sausages and sauces |
| Soybeans | Some veggie sausages and spreads |
Write "Contains:" under each dish, or keep a matrix by the till made with the free allergen chart maker. Only call oats gluten-free if they are certified and you can prevent cross-contamination.
A breakfast menu that switches itself off online
Upload this menu to Menuthere and set each breakfast dish to show only at breakfast times, such as 7:00 to 11:30 on weekdays and until 14:00 at weekends; outside its window the dish disappears from your online menu. See show dishes at set times. The full English extras become an optional add-on group, each with its price, so a customer can add two hash browns and a second egg. See add-ons and choices. Customers order ahead for collection with 0% commission; card payments through your own Stripe account start on Lite (US$17 a month).

FAQs
Is this breakfast menu template free?
Yes. Copy the layout into Word or Google Docs, or make it in the free menu maker and download a PDF, with no sign-up or watermark.
Is a bacon roll to take away standard-rated for VAT?
Yes. HMRC treats toasted bread, sandwiches and similar items heated to the customer's order as standard-rated at 20%, even to take away. Hot drinks are standard-rated too.
How do I show when breakfast finishes?
Put "Breakfast served until 11:30" at the top of the menu. On a Menuthere online menu, set each breakfast dish to show only until that time and it disappears afterwards.
Which allergens are on a full English?
Usually eggs, cereals containing gluten (toast and many sausages and black puddings) and milk (butter). Some sausages also contain sulphites or mustard. Check every supplier's label.
What size should a breakfast menu be?
A4 for a full table menu, A5 for a short café card, and A4 landscape or A3 for a counter board.
