Online pizza ordering system for UK pizza shops, with 0% commission
Updated 20 October 2026
An online pizza ordering system lets customers build their pizza on their phone (size, base, toppings and extras) and order delivery or collection from your own website. Menuthere gives your pizza shop its own ordering site and QR codes, with deals, delivery zones and pre-orders. Orders ring in your kitchen and print as tickets. You pay 0% commission on every plan, and you can start free.

Why pizza shops need their own ordering system
Pizza is one of the hardest takeaway menus to put online. Customers expect to pick sizes, bases and extra toppings, then add sides and a drink. Delivery apps handle that, but they take a large cut of every order.
| Route | Commission on £22 order | VAT on commission | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uber Eats, Uber delivers (30%) | £6.60 | £1.32 | £14.08 |
| Just Eat, Just Eat delivers (30%) | £6.60 | £1.32 | £14.08 |
| Just Eat, your own drivers (14%) | £3.08 | £0.62 | £18.30 |
| Menuthere Lite + Stripe (1.5% + 20p, standard UK card) | £0 commission; £0.53 card fee | none on Menuthere's side | £21.47, less your plan fee |
VAT on commission is reclaimable if you are VAT-registered. Rates are from our Just Eat commission and Uber Eats commission pages.
Over a month: a shop doing 600 delivery orders at £22 takes £13,200. At 14% plus VAT on Just Eat, that is £2,217.60 in fees. Through your own site with Stripe it is about £318 in card fees, plus US$17 for the Lite plan. Most shops keep the apps for new customers and move regulars to their own site.
Your pizza menu, built the way customers order
Sizes with their own prices
Set Small, Medium and Large (or 10", 12", 14"), each with its own price. Customers must choose one. You can switch off a size when you run out of dough balls. All plans.
Bases, sauces and toppings as option groups
Make each choice an option group:
- Required or optional. "Choose your base" can be required, so checkout waits until it is filled.
- Limits. "Choose 1" for the base, "up to 6" for extra toppings.
- Extra prices. +£1.00 for extra cheese, +£1.50 for a stuffed crust.
One clear line for the kitchen
The size and every option print on one line on the kitchen ticket, with the customer's notes. No guessing what "no onion, extra jalapeño" belonged to.
Upsells and sold-out items
Suggest garlic bread, wings or a drink once a pizza is in the basket. Mark anything sold out in one tap, on the dashboard or the partner app.
Menu import
Upload a photo or PDF of your current menu. Then check prices and set up your option groups.
Be clear on two limits before you choose
We'd rather you know now.
- No half-and-half builder. The workaround is a required "Second half" option group, where the customer picks the toppings for the other half. It works, but it is not the split-pizza picture some customers know from the big chains.
- Option prices are flat across sizes. Extra cheese costs the same on a small and a large. If you charge more on larger pizzas, set up separate items per size, or price extras at your average.
Deals for pizza night
| Deal type | Example | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Coupons | "20% off collection on Tuesdays", "£5 off orders over £30" | Lite and above |
| Coupon rules | Minimum spend, usage limits, certain days, collection or delivery only | Lite and above |
| Buy X get Y and free items | "Buy 2 large pizzas, get garlic bread free" | Pro |
| Loyalty points | Points on every order, redeemable on the next | Pro |
| Review requests | A message after the order asks for a Google review | Pro |
| Pairing suggestions | Sides and drinks shown once a pizza is in the basket | All plans |
There is no ready-made "meal deal" builder that bundles fixed items at one price. Many shops list the deal as its own menu item, such as "Family deal: 2 large pizzas, 2 sides, 1.5L drink", with option groups for each pizza.
Delivery and collection
- Delivery zones (a radius, or areas drawn on a map) on all plans. Advanced zone rules, such as a different price for each zone, on Lite and above.
- Delivery fees: a flat fee, or distance-based fees on Lite (a base fee plus a charge per kilometre, or price bands by distance). Distances are set in kilometres, so convert your miles (1 mile is about 1.6 km).
- Minimum order and free-delivery threshold, such as "Free delivery over £20".
- Addresses outside your area are stopped at checkout, or offered collection instead.
- Separate hours for delivery and collection, with breaks and holidays.
- Your own drivers (Pro): the riders app sends customers a live tracking link. See the riders app.
- Tips for your drivers (every plan): switch on tips and customers can add one at checkout: No tip, your percentages (10, 15 and 20 to start) or their own amount. No tip is selected until they choose, and tips are never taxed. See tips and service charge. Pass tips on under your tips policy: see our service charge and tips guide.
Pre-orders and busy Friday nights
- Pre-orders (Lite): customers schedule delivery or collection for later, with the notice you set, how many days ahead, and time slots. Good for parties and match nights.
- Alerts that ring on the dashboard and partner app until someone accepts. Auto-accept is available.
- Kitchen tickets print automatically at the order status you choose. See kitchen printing.
- Pause ordering in one tap when the oven is full, then switch it back on.
Pizza EPOS: do you need one as well?
Many pizza shops search for a pizza EPOS when what they want is fewer app orders. Ask yourself:
- Do most of your orders still come by phone? Then caller ID and fast till entry matter. A full takeaway EPOS may pay for itself.
- Do you need card payments linked to the till, or kitchen screens? That is full EPOS territory.
- Do you mainly want more direct online orders? Then an ordering system is the bigger win.
Menuthere offers in-store billing as a POS add-on for US$10 a month (for example, Lite US$17 + POS add-on US$10 = US$27 a month): a browser till with kitchen tickets, reports and bills that show UK VAT. It has no linked card terminal, no caller ID and no UK EPOS integrations. You can run it alongside your current EPOS. Compare your options in EPOS for takeaways and EPOS with online ordering.
UK rules for selling pizza online
- VAT. Hot takeaway food, including hot pizza, is standard-rated at 20%. Your menu prices must include VAT. See VAT on takeaway food.
- Allergens. Pizza often contains cereals with gluten and milk, and toppings can add fish, mustard, celery or sulphites. For online orders, allergen information must be available before purchase and at delivery (FSA). On Menuthere, tag the 14 allergens and calories on each pizza, on every plan including Free, and customers see them when they open it. Keep a full chart too, with our allergen matrix maker.
- No card surcharges. You can't add a fee for paying by card. Build costs into your prices.
Your pizza website, too
Your ordering page can be your whole pizza website. On Lite you get your own domain, every theme and an editable home page with hero, menu, highlights ("Wood-fired since 2012"), gallery, favourites and opening hours. See our takeaway website builder.
On Pro, customers can also order through WhatsApp on your own number, with automatic order updates. Meta charges per message, separately.

FAQs
What is an online pizza ordering system?
It is software that lets customers choose their pizza size, base and toppings online and order delivery or collection. The order goes straight to your kitchen. Menuthere does this from your own website, with 0% commission.
Can customers choose size, base and toppings?
Yes. Sizes have their own prices. Bases, sauces and toppings are option groups, with limits and extra prices. This works on every plan.
Can customers order half-and-half pizzas?
There is no dedicated half-and-half builder. Most shops add a required "Second half" option group, so customers choose toppings for each half.
Can I run deals like "two large pizzas for £25"?
Yes. List the deal as its own menu item with option groups for each pizza. Coupons start on Lite. Buy X get Y offers and free items are on Pro.
How much does a pizza ordering system cost?
Menuthere is free for 50 orders a month. Lite adds unlimited orders, card payments and advanced delivery zones for US$17 a month. There is no commission. Stripe charges from 1.5% + 20p per standard UK card.
Can I set delivery zones and a minimum order?
Yes. Use basic zones (a radius) on any plan, or draw zones on a map on Lite. Set flat or distance-based fees, a minimum order and a free-delivery threshold.
Do my customers need an app?
No. Your menu opens in the phone's browser from a link or QR code. Your staff use the partner app to receive orders.
Does Menuthere work as a pizza EPOS?
In-store billing with kitchen tickets and reports is available as a POS add-on for US$10 a month. It does not have caller ID or a linked card terminal. Busy phone-led shops may still want a full EPOS alongside it.
