Your takeaway's own app, without the marketplace commission
Updated 19 October 2026
A takeaway app builder puts your takeaway's own app, with your name and icon, on your customers' phones. Most builders leave the design, testing and store submission to you. Menuthere's Branded App plan does it for you. We build your Android and iOS app, publish it on Google Play and the App Store, and connect it to your menu and orders. It costs US$99 a month, billed in US dollars, and we take 0% commission on orders through it. There's nothing to pay at signup.
In short
- Your own takeaway app on Google Play and the App Store, under your name and icon, built and published by Menuthere. Apple's and Google's developer fees are included.
- Regulars reorder in a tap, pay in the app, collect loyalty points and track their delivery live when you use your own drivers.
- Push notifications included: "Your order's on the way" updates, plus unlimited offers to everyone who installed your app.
- Keep the marketplaces for new customers. Move your regulars to your own app and stop paying commission on their orders.
- US$99 a month (US$990 a year), 0% commission. You pay the first month before we build, and your month only starts counting when the app goes live.
Why takeaways get their own app
Marketplaces such as Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats are good at finding you new customers. The catch is the repeat orders: you pay the same commission on a regular's twentieth order as on their first. Menuthere's guides set out what each one charges UK restaurants:
Your own app is for the people who already know you. They tap your icon, reorder last Friday's order and pay. You take 0% commission from Menuthere on that order; your card payment gateway charges its own processing fee.
Keep both. Most takeaways stay on the marketplaces for new customers and push regulars to their own app with a leaflet in every bag, a QR code on the counter and an offer in the app ("10% off your first app order").
What your takeaway app does
| Feature | What it means for a takeaway |
|---|---|
| Your name on both stores | Customers search for your takeaway on Google Play or the App Store and find you, not a list of rivals. |
| Order and pay in the app | Your full menu, collection or delivery, card payment in the app. |
| Reorder in a tap | A regular's usual Friday order is one tap away. |
| Loyalty points | Customers see their points in the app, which gives them a reason to order direct. |
| Live delivery tracking | When you use your own drivers, customers track their order live. |
| Order updates by push | Accepted, ready, on the way: each step goes straight to the customer's phone. |
| Unlimited push offers | "2 large pizzas for £20 tonight" to everyone who installed your app, or to followers only. Send it now, schedule it, or repeat it every week. |
| Partner app for staff | Orders ring on the Menuthere partner app for Android and iPhone until someone accepts them. |
| Everything in Pro | WhatsApp Business API on your own number, loyalty points, your own drivers, advanced analytics and several sites. |

Do you need an app yet?
- Not if most orders are from new customers. They won't install an app to order once. Start with a free ordering website or our takeaway ordering system, with 0% commission.
- Yes, once regulars order every week. That's when an icon on their phone and a Friday-night push notification pay for themselves.
You can start on Free, Lite (US$17 a month) or Pro (US$39 a month) and move to Branded App later. Your menu, orders and customers come with you.
Push notification ideas for takeaways
- Midweek: "Tuesday only: free chips with any kebab."
- Match nights: "Kick-off at 8. Order by 7:30 for delivery at half-time."
- Weather: "Raining? We'll bring it to you."
- Big nights: Bonfire Night, New Year's Eve, Eid and Diwali pre-orders.
- Loyalty: "You've got points waiting. Use them tonight."
Frequently asked questions
How do I get an app for my takeaway?
With Menuthere you don't build it yourself. Choose the Branded App plan, add at least 10 dishes with photos, register your app and book a call with our founder. After you pay the first month, we build your Android and iOS app and publish it on Google Play and the App Store.
How much does a takeaway app cost?
Menuthere's Branded App plan is US$99 a month, or US$990 a year billed yearly, billed in US dollars. Apple's and Google's developer fees are included, and we take 0% commission on your orders.
Do I still need Just Eat or Deliveroo?
Probably, for new customers. Your own app is for regulars, so you stop paying marketplace commission on their repeat orders.
Do you take commission on app orders?
No. Menuthere takes 0% commission. Your card payment gateway charges its own processing fee.
Can customers collect or get delivery?
Yes, customers order collection or delivery in the app. When you use your own drivers, they can track their delivery live.
Do I pay anything at signup?
No. You pay the first month in advance after your call with Menuthere's founder, before we start building. Your subscription counts from the day your app goes live.
How long does it take to get my takeaway app?
We don't promise a fixed date, because store reviews vary. Apple says most apps are reviewed within a day, and Google says some reviews take a week or longer. We handle the reviews and tell you when your app is live. Your subscription only starts counting from that day.
Is there a free trial?
Not on Branded App, because we build an app for you. You can try Lite or Pro free for 7 days first (a card is needed to start, and nothing is charged until the trial ends).
