Updated 19 October 2026
Short answer: CaterSOFT is UK catering and event management software from Solihull. Drop & Go (for drop-off and corporate buffet caterers) costs £59 or £129 a month, plus a £99 or £499 set-up fee. Occasion (for event and wedding caterers) costs £59 or £89 a month, plus £99 or £399 to set up. All prices exclude VAT. Billing is monthly, with 30 days' notice to cancel.
Below: what each plan includes, what the terms say, and the alternatives worth a look. Some small caterers only need customers to order online. If that's you, a lighter tool may do the job. Facts checked 11 October 2026.
What is CaterSOFT?
CaterSOFT is cloud software for running a catering business, made by CaterSOFT UK Ltd at Blythe Valley Business Park, Solihull. It has three products:
- Occasion: for wedding, event and outside caterers. It handles enquiries, proposals, a bookings diary, quoting, payment schedules, eSign contracts and event sheets.
- Drop & Go: for drop-off caterers, such as office buffet and corporate lunch firms. It handles menus, production lists, delivery schedules, invoicing and a customer ordering portal.
- Venue: for conference centres, stadiums, golf clubs and function halls.
It is built for the back office of catering: quotes, staff, production and invoices. That's more than an online order page does.

Contract terms
CaterSOFT's terms describe:
- a monthly rolling subscription, paid monthly in advance,
- no minimum term unless agreed in writing,
- 30 days' written notice to cancel, with no refunds,
- price changes with 30 days' notice.
That's friendlier than many hospitality contracts, which often run for 12 months or more.
Who CaterSOFT suits
Be fair to it. CaterSOFT is a good fit if you:
- run events or weddings and need proposals, contracts and payment schedules,
- deliver office buffets to many business accounts and want production lists, driver sheets and automated invoices,
- have a team of 3–10 people sharing one system,
- want a UK supplier with a monthly rolling contract.
It may be more than you need if you:
- are a small or home caterer taking a few orders a week,
- mainly want customers to see a menu, pick a date and pay online,
- don't need proposals, eSign or staff scheduling yet.

Menuthere: best for a simple catering order page
Menuthere gives you an online menu where customers order for collection or delivery. The Free plan covers up to 50 orders a month. On Lite (unlimited orders), customers can book orders for a future date and time, pay by card through your own Stripe account, and use discount codes. You set delivery zones (advanced zones on Lite) and mark a dish as sold out. On every plan, including Free, you can tag any of the 14 UK allergens, calories (kcal) and a halal mark on each dish, and customers see them when they open a dish. Lite is US$17 a month, billed in US dollars, with a 7-day free trial (a card is needed to start it, but nothing is charged until it ends). Orders ring on your phone and can print in the kitchen.
What it doesn't do: proposals, eSign contracts, deposits, production sheets, staff scheduling or invoicing. For a part-payment, send a Stripe payment link. See online ordering for caterers.
Spoonfed: best for larger B2B caterers
Spoonfed is catering management software run by a UK company, with branded online ordering, quotes, production planning and invoicing. It is aimed at universities and contract caterers serving several sites. It doesn't publish prices or contract terms on its homepage.
Storekit: best if you're a restaurant that also caters
Storekit is a UK ordering platform for restaurants and takeaways, with a free plan that has no monthly fee and a per-order fee. Check Storekit's pricing page for current rates, including for catering orders. See Storekit pricing and alternatives.
Worked example: a small drop-off caterer
Say you deliver 40 office lunch orders a month, averaging £150. That's £6,000 a month in sales.
| Monthly software | Card fees (approx.) | Year 1 total (ex VAT) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| CaterSOFT Drop & Go Professional | £129 | Depends on your gateway (CaterSOFT doesn't publish gateway fees) | £2,047 + card fees |
| Menuthere Lite + Stripe | US$17 (billed in US dollars) | 40 × (1.5% × £150 + 20p) = £98 | US$204 (US$170 on yearly billing) + about £1,176 card fees |
Card fees apply whichever tool you use, because every system needs a payment gateway. Stripe's standard UK card rate is 1.5% + 20p. The real difference is the software fee and the set-up fee, and whether you need CaterSOFT's back-office tools.
How to choose catering software: checklist
- Do customers need to order online, or do you take orders by email and phone?
- Do you need quotes, proposals and contracts? (Events: probably yes. Office lunches: often no.)
- Do you need production lists and driver sheets?
- Do you take deposits? How do you collect the balance?
- How many staff logins do you need?
- What's the set-up fee, and is there a minimum term?
- Can you give information on all 14 allergens for each dish? This is a legal duty in the UK, and for orders taken online the information must be available before the customer buys and again at delivery. Menuthere lets you tag allergens, calories (kcal) and a halal mark on each dish, on every plan including Free. Keep an allergen matrix too.
