Do city fee caps limit what DoorDash charges restaurants in New York, Seattle and San Francisco?
Updated 8 October 2026
Yes, but with room to charge more. New York allows up to 43% in total since 31 May 2025; Seattle and San Francisco cap delivery fees at 15%, but extra services can be priced above that.
- New York (Int. 762-B, from 31 May 2025): 15% delivery, 3% card, 20% enhanced services or marketing, 5% other, 43% in total.
- New York also has a lower-priced tier capped at 23%. The 2025 law eased the 2020 caps.
- Seattle made its 15% delivery fee cap permanent in 2022 (Ordinance 126639). Extra services can be priced above 15%.
- San Francisco's 15% cap is permanent, but a 26 July 2022 law lets platforms charge more when a restaurant opts into additional services.
- These are legal limits, not DoorDash's rates. For its plan rates see DoorDash commission in the USA.
Orders from your own link carry no cap
City caps limit what apps can charge, but Menuthere takes 0% commission on every order from your own ordering link, so there is nothing to cap.
