Can I get my domain back after it has expired or been deleted?
Updated 12 October 2026
Often yes. After expiry you must be allowed to renew. After deletion the name can be restored in a 30-day grace period.
- After expiry the website stops loading for at least the last eight days the name can still be renewed.
- The page shown must say the name has expired and how to renew.
- After deletion, gTLD names get a 30-day Redemption Grace Period when the registrar can restore them.
- DNS stays off and transfers are blocked during that grace period.
- Registrars must show their restore fees when you register.
