If I refund an online order, do I get the card fee back?

With Stripe, no. Cancelling a payment before it completes costs nothing, but after it succeeds Stripe does not return its original processing fee when you refund.

• Cancel early: if the payment has not completed, cancelling costs nothing.
• After success, the refund returns the customer's money but not the fee.
• Other gateways differ, so check your gateway's refund page.
• Budget for it: refunds cost the fee even when the order failed.
