Can my delivery rider share a live location with the customer on WhatsApp?
Updated 12 October 2026
Yes. The rider opens the customer's chat, taps the attachment icon, chooses Location, then Share live location, and picks how long to share.
- Live location sends the rider's real-time position to one chat. The rider decides how long it runs and can end it early.
- On Android: open the chat, tap the attachment icon, choose Location, then Share live location, pick a duration and send.
- It is end-to-end encrypted, so only the people it is shared with can see it.
- The phone must allow WhatsApp to access location. To stop sharing in all chats, use Privacy, then Live location.
Live tracking without the rider sharing by hand
With the Menuthere riders app, the customer gets a live tracking page for the order and automatic WhatsApp status updates. The rider does not have to share a location by hand.
