Free breakfast menu template
Updated October 20, 2026
Open our free breakfast menu template, put in your eggs, griddle plates and sides, and download a print-ready PDF: it's the Classic design in warm amber with a serif heading, a "breakfast served 6 to 11 am" line, and the consumer-advisory footnote that eggs cooked to order need, already printed at the foot of the page. No sign-up, no email and no watermark. Below: which breakfast dishes need the asterisk, the two egg temperatures in the Food Code, and what this year's egg prices mean for your plate costs.
In short
- The template: Classic layout, amber, Lora heading; Eggs, From the griddle, Sides and drinks.
- Already on it: "Two eggs any style*" and "Eggs Benedict*", with a reminder footnote at the foot of the page.
- Food Code 2026: an egg cooked for one customer's order and served right away must reach 145°F for 15 seconds, unless the customer asks for it less cooked and you've given the advisory.
- Eggs got cheaper: US egg prices fell 20.6% in the 12 months to September 2026 (BLS).
What's in the breakfast menu template
It opens as "Sunny Side Diner".
| Section | Example items | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Eggs | Two eggs any style*, Denver omelet, Veggie omelet, Eggs Benedict* | The starred dishes can come undercooked |
| From the griddle | Buttermilk pancakes (short / full stack), French toast, Belgian waffle | Two sizes on one line |
| Sides and drinks | Bacon or sausage, Hash browns, Bottomless coffee, Orange juice (small / large) | Add-ons |
The foot line reads "* Regarding the safety of these items, written information is available upon request." That is one of the three reminders the Food Code allows. Keep it only if you can hand out that information; otherwise change it to "* Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness." The foot line also takes your address or phone number.
Which breakfast dishes need the consumer advisory?
The FDA Food Code 2026 (§ 3-603.11) asks for a disclosure and a reminder when an animal food is served raw, undercooked or not otherwise processed to eliminate pathogens. On a breakfast menu that usually means:
| Dish | Why | Advisory? |
|---|---|---|
| Eggs sunny side up, over easy, soft-boiled, "any style" | The yolk may stay runny | Yes, unless you use pasteurized eggs |
| Eggs Benedict, hollandaise | Poached eggs; hollandaise is often made with yolks that aren't fully cooked | Yes, unless made with pasteurized eggs |
| Scrambled eggs, omelets, French toast cooked through | Cooked to temperature | No |
| Steak and eggs, steak cooked to order | Whole-muscle intact beef steaks have their own rule in the Food Code | Usually no for the steak; the eggs may still need it |
The disclosure can be the dish's description ("eggs cooked to order") or an asterisk that points to a footnote saying the item is served raw or undercooked. Your health department enforces its own edition of the Food Code, so check the wording with them.
The two egg temperatures (Food Code 2026, § 3-401.11):
- 145°F for 15 seconds for raw eggs broken and cooked for a customer's order and served right away.
- 155°F for 17 seconds for eggs that are not cooked to order, such as a tray of scrambled eggs for a buffet.
Worked example: egg prices and your plate cost
The US consumer price index for eggs fell 20.6% in the 12 months to September 2026, while coffee rose 7.1% (BLS). Suppose a case of eggs cost you the equivalent of $3.60 a dozen a year ago and fell with the index:
| A year ago | Now (−20.6%) | |
|---|---|---|
| A dozen eggs | $3.60 | $2.86 |
| One egg | 30¢ | 24¢ |
| Eggs in a 3-egg omelet | 90¢ | 72¢ |
| Food cost of a $12 Denver omelet (with $2.10 of other ingredients) | 25.0% | 23.5% |
That's an example. Your supplier's price is what counts. Cost each plate with the recipe cost calculator, and decide whether to hold prices or run a special. The bottomless coffee is where the other number moved.
