QR code menu for juice bars and smoothie shops

Updated October 20, 2026

A QR code menu for a juice bar lets guests build a smoothie on their phone (size, base, boosts) and see the calories and allergens before they pay, so the line moves and nobody asks "what's in the green one?" With Menuthere, a code on the counter or window opens your menu without an app, guests order ahead for pickup or from a seat, and Menuthere takes 0% commission. Menu codes and ordering are on the Free plan.

In short

  • Build-your-own works: sizes set the price, a required base, then boosts "up to 3", with doubles allowed.
  • Calories and allergens on every drink, shown when the guest taps it. One calorie figure per drink, so list the size it's for.
  • Order-ahead for the rush: your store link on the window, with an average prep time at checkout.
  • Unpasteurized juice: FDA doesn't require a warning label on juice sold by the glass, so say it in the menu description instead.
  • Not built in: subscriptions or juice-cleanse plans billed automatically.

Which code goes where in a juice bar

The gym-and-yoga crowd orders on the way: a flyer at the studio next door with your store link's code does more than a code on your own counter. Read from the hand, a code of about 2.5 cm (1 in) is enough for a short link; on a counter card read standing up, nearer 9 cm. Check yours with the QR code size calculator.

A smoothie menu, built for phones

CategoriesSmoothies, Cold-pressed juice, Bowls, Shots, Build your ownCategories, in the order of your board
SizesSmoothie: 16 oz $8.50, 24 oz $10.50Sizes (variants), each with its own price
BaseAlmond milk, oat milk, coconut water, apple juiceAdd-on group, single choice, required
BoostsPlant protein +$1.50, collagen +$1.50, chia +$0.75, spirulina +$1Add-on group, multiple, "Up to 3", "More than one of each" on (double protein)

BowlsAçaí bowl with granola, banana, berries; extra toppings +$1An item with a toppings group
ShotsGinger shot $3.50; three for $9Items, with sizes for the multi-pack
Morning-onlyOvernight oats 7:00 to 11:00 AMSet Time on the item
Allergens and caloriesPB Power: Peanuts, Milk, 540 kcal (16 oz)Allergens and nutrition on the drink

A boost costs the same on every size, so +$1.50 protein is +$1.50 on a 16 oz and a 24 oz. That suits most juice bars. Already have a printed board menu? Import it from a photo or PDF, then add the bases and boosts by hand: add-ons aren't read from a photo.

Calories and allergens: what juice-bar guests check first

Each drink can carry its calories per serving and any of 14 allergens, including Tree nuts (almond milk, cashew), Peanuts (peanut butter), Milk (yogurt, whey), Soy (soy protein) and Sesame. Guests see them when they tap the drink, in every menu layout and in the digital menu.

Two limits to plan around:

  • One calorie figure per drink. Sizes don't carry their own calories. Enter the figure for your best-selling size and name it in the description ("540 kcal for 16 oz; 810 kcal for 24 oz"), or list the 24 oz as its own item.
  • Boosts don't add calories. A guest's double protein isn't counted. Put the calories of each boost in the option's name if your guests track them ("Plant protein, 120 kcal").

Under FDA's menu labeling rule, chains with 20 or more locations must post calories on menus and menu boards; see FDA menu labeling requirements. For the counter, the free allergen chart maker prints a chart from the allergens you ticked, and the allergen label maker prints labels for grab-and-go bottles.

Unpasteurized juice sold by the glass

Many juice bars press raw juice to order. FDA's consumer guidance says FDA "does not require warning labels for juice or cider that is sold by the glass," naming juice bars among its examples, and tells consumers to ask when they're unsure. That makes the menu the place guests find out, so:

  • Say "unpasteurized" or "raw, cold-pressed" in the description of each juice it applies to, so guests who are pregnant, elderly or immunocompromised can choose before they order.
  • Mark pasteurized or HPP-treated bottles as such, so the two don't get mixed up on a phone screen.
  • Bottling to sell packaged, or to other shops, brings in FDA's labeling and juice HACCP rules and your state's; that's covered in online ordering for juice bars. This page covers the counter and the seats.

How the morning rush runs

  • 7:00 to 9:00 AM, order-ahead. Regulars order on the way from your store link. Show an average prep time at checkout, such as "about 6 min"; you type the number and Menuthere shows it. On Lite, they can pick a pickup slot.
  • New orders ring on your dashboard and the Menuthere partner app until someone accepts. If the blender line can't stop to tap, auto-accept after 30 seconds to 2 minutes takes the order anyway, and tickets print by themselves without prices.
  • Run out of açaí? Switch the bowl off and guests see it as Unavailable. A single boost option has no off switch, so if you run out of collagen, remove it from the boost group and add it back when stock arrives.

A worked example: one order-ahead pickup

A regular orders on the way from the studio next door:

LinePrice
Green Machine, 24 oz$10.50
Base: coconut water$0.00
Plant protein ×2 at +$1.50$3.00
Ginger shot$3.50
Total$17.00

Paid by card through your own Stripe account at Stripe's standard US price of 2.9% + 30¢, the fee is $0.79 ($0.49 + $0.30). Menuthere's commission is $0. Twenty such orders a weekday is about 440 orders a month, so this shop needs Lite ($17 a month, unlimited orders); the Free plan covers 50 a month.

What a juice-bar QR menu costs

PlanPriceWhat a juice bar gets
Free$0Menu codes, seat codes, pickup ordering, bases and boosts, calories and allergens, 50 orders a month
Lite$17 a monthUnlimited orders, card, Apple Pay and Google Pay through your own Stripe account, pickup times, your own domain, coupons
Pro$39 a monthLoyalty points for regulars, WhatsApp order updates from your own number, several outlets

Lite and Pro start with a 7-day free trial; adding a card starts it. To cost a recipe before you price it, use the free recipe cost calculator. Taking orders on WhatsApp too? See how juice bars take orders on WhatsApp. In the US, WhatsApp can send order updates but not promotions: Meta doesn't deliver marketing templates to +1 numbers, so use email for offers.

Not a fit if

  • You sell juice cleanses as subscriptions billed every week. There's no subscription billing; a cleanse can be one item ordered as a pre-order on Lite.
  • Calories must change with every boost on screen. The menu shows one figure per drink.
  • Your POS must receive the orders. Menuthere has no ready-made link to Square, Toast or Clover.

Set up your juice bar's QR code menu

  1. Create your store. Search for your juice bar on Google to fill in the name, address and photos, or start by hand.
  2. Add your drinks. Import your board from a photo or PDF, then give each drink its sizes.
  3. Add bases and boosts. Add a required base group and a boosts group with "Up to 3" on each smoothie.
  4. Tag calories and allergens. Add calories for the size you name in the description, tick allergens, and mark raw juices as unpasteurized.
  5. Print the codes. Download your store link's code for the window and flyers, and a menu code for the counter.
  6. Test it. Order a 24 oz with double protein from your phone and check the ticket the blender line gets.

Menu codes and ordering are free, with 0% commission.

FAQs

What is a QR code menu for a juice bar?

It's a code on your counter, window or flyers that opens your juice bar's menu on a guest's phone. A menu code shows drinks with ingredients, calories and allergens. Your store link's code also lets guests order ahead for pickup.

Can guests build their own smoothie from the QR code?

Yes. Sizes set the price, a required group picks the base, and a boosts group lets guests add up to the number you set, including two of the same boost.

Can I show calories on each smoothie?

Yes. Each drink carries one calorie figure and its allergens, shown when the guest taps it. Name the size the calories are for in the description, because sizes don't carry their own figure.

Do I need a warning label for unpasteurized juice?

FDA doesn't require a warning label on juice sold by the glass, such as at a juice bar. Packaged juice that hasn't been treated needs FDA's warning on its label. Check your state's rules too, and say unpasteurized on the menu.

Can customers order ahead and skip the line?

Yes. Your store link's QR code takes pickup orders, with an average prep time shown at checkout. On Lite, guests can also pick a pickup slot.

Is a QR code menu free for juice bars?

Yes. Menuthere's Free plan includes menu codes, seat codes and ordering, with up to 50 orders a month and 0% commission. Lite, at $17 a month, adds unlimited orders and card payments.
