QR code menu for pizzerias
Updated October 20, 2026
A QR code menu for a pizzeria has to handle what paper handles easily: a pie in four sizes, a dozen toppings, double pepperoni, and a guest who wants half veggie. With Menuthere each size carries its own price, toppings sit in a group with a limit you set, a guest can take two of the same topping, and a table code sends the order to the kitchen marked with the table. Guests open it in the phone's browser, Menuthere takes 0% commission, and table codes and ordering are on the Free plan.
In short
- Sizes set the price of the pie: 10", 12", 14", 16", each with its own price.
- Toppings are an add-on group with "up to" a number, and double toppings allowed.
- One limit to plan around: a topping costs the same on every size. There's a workaround below.
- Half-and-half isn't a built-in option. Two topping groups with options named "Left: …" and "Right: …" do the job.
- Slices and pies work best as separate items: slices at the counter, pies at the table and for pickup.
Which code goes where in a pizzeria
| Spot | Code | What the guest can do | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Each table and booth | A table QR code, "Table 4" or "Booth 2" | Order pies, sides and drinks to the table | Free |
| Slice counter | Digital menu code, or a table code switched to View only | Read today's slices and prices while in line | Free |
| Window, door, pizza boxes | Your store link's QR code | Order ahead for pickup, or delivery if you run it | Free; pickup times on Lite |
| Flyers and door hangers | Your store link | Order direct instead of through an app | Free |
A code on the pizza box lid is the cheapest marketing a pizzeria has: everyone who ordered through an app sees it at home. Read from the hand, a code of about 2.5 cm (1 in) is enough for a short link; on a table tent read from the seat, about 3.5 cm. The QR code size calculator checks your real link.
A pizza menu, built for QR ordering
| Menu piece | Example | How you set it up |
|---|---|---|
| Pie sizes | Margherita: 10" $12, 12" $15, 14" $18, 16" $21 | Sizes (variants). The guest picks one, and it sets the price |
| Crust | Classic, thin, gluten-free crust +$3 | Add-on group, single choice, required |
| Toppings | Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, onions, olives +$2 each, up to 5 | Add-on group, multiple, "Up to 5" |
| Double toppings | Double pepperoni | "More than one of each" on (it is by default): the guest presses + and it shows as "Pepperoni ×2", charged twice |
| Dips | Garlic, ranch, marinara +$0.75 | Add-on group, multiple, optional |
| Slices | Cheese slice $4, pepperoni slice $4.50 | Their own items in a "By the slice" category |
| Lunch special | Two slices and a soda, weekdays 11 AM to 2 PM | One item with Set Time, weekdays only |
| Delivery-only box deals | Two large pies $36 | An item with Show on Dine-in switched off |
| Allergens | Gluten, Milk on every pie; Tree nuts on the pesto pie | Allergens and nutrition on the dish |
The topping-price limit, and the workaround
An add-on adds the same price whatever size the guest picks: +$2 for mushrooms on a 10" and on a 16". Most pizzerias charge more for toppings on a bigger pie. Two honest ways round it:
- Price toppings at your middle size. If 12" and 14" are your best sellers, +$2.25 may be fair across the board.
- Make the big sizes their own items. "Build your own 16"" as its own dish, with its own topping group at +$3, next to "Build your own 10"–14"" at +$2.
Half-and-half
There's no half-pie switch. Add two optional topping groups to your build-your-own pie, Left half and Right half, each with "up to" a number and topping prices set at half your full-pie price. The ticket prints the options a guest picked, not the group's name, so name the options themselves "Left: Pepperoni", "Right: Mushrooms". The pie maker then reads which side gets what.
Slices at the counter, pies at the table
Slice shops and sit-down pizzerias use codes differently.
- Slice counter. People in line read; they don't order on a phone for a $4 slice. A read-only menu code (or a table code switched to View only) shows today's slices. Switch a slice off when the tray is gone, and guests see it as Unavailable.
- Tables. A table code turns a 20-minute wait for the server into an order placed while the menu is still open. A second order from the same table, while the first is open and unpaid, joins the running order, tagged "Edited by customer" with the new lines marked "Added". Reprint the ticket and the oven sees the extra garlic knots.
- Pickup. Your store link, with an average prep time shown at checkout ("about 20 min"). On Lite, guests can pick a pickup slot.
Kitchen tickets print without prices, and the ticket and the bill print as separate jobs, so the ticket can go to the make line and the bill to the counter.
Calories per slice, if you're a chain
Under FDA's menu labeling rule, chains with 20 or more locations must post calories on menus. FDA's guidance lets a pizza be labeled per slice, as long as the number of slices in the pie is on the menu too, in a format like "200 cal/slice, 8 slices." Menuthere records calories per serving on each dish and shows them when the guest taps it. For a pie, enter the per-slice figure and put "8 slices" in the description, or list calories by size in the description, since one dish carries one calorie figure. More in FDA menu labeling requirements. An independent pizzeria with fewer than 20 locations isn't covered, but many guests still look for the number.
A worked example: Table 6's order
Table 6 orders a 16" build-your-own with pepperoni twice and mushrooms, and a 12" Margherita, using the "own item for 16"" workaround.
| Line | Price |
|---|---|
| Build your own 16": base | $19.00 |
| Pepperoni ×2 at +$3.00 | $6.00 |
| Mushrooms +$3.00 | $3.00 |
| Margherita 12" | $15.00 |
| Garlic dip ×2 at +$0.75 | $1.50 |
| Check | $44.50 |
Paid by card on the phone at Stripe's standard US price of 2.9% + 30¢, the fee is $1.59 ($1.29 + $0.30). Menuthere's commission is $0, on any plan. A marketplace taking 25% of the same $44.50 would keep $11.13.
Payments, delivery and stopping prank orders
- Pay at the table or after the meal. On Lite, guests pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through your own Stripe account when they order, or after the meal with a Pay now button. See mobile order and pay.
- Your own drivers. On Pro, assign each delivery to one of your drivers in one tap; they use the rider app on iOS or Android and guests follow a live tracking page. See in-house delivery.
- Prank orders. People photograph table codes. Geo-lock only lets a table order through within the distance you pick from your map pin: 100 m, 200 m, 500 m or 1 km. See how to stop prank QR orders.
What a pizzeria QR menu costs
| Plan | Price | What a pizzeria gets |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Table codes, menu codes, pickup ordering, sizes and topping groups, kitchen tickets, 50 orders a month |
| Lite | $17 a month | Unlimited orders, Stripe card payments, pay after the meal, pickup times, your own domain, coupons |
| Pro | $39 a month | Your own drivers with the rider app, loyalty points, WhatsApp order updates, several outlets |
A pizzeria doing 40 orders on a Friday night uses the Free plan's 50 in a weekend, so treat Free as the trial run. Lite and Pro start with a 7-day free trial; adding a card starts it. For delivery and the whole ordering picture, see the pizza ordering system; to cost a pie, the free recipe cost calculator for pizza restaurants.
Not a fit if
- Your toppings must scale by size inside one item. Use one of the workarounds above, or a system with size-based modifier pricing.
- You need a half-and-half switch on the pie image. Two topping groups do it in text.
- Your POS must receive the orders. Menuthere has no ready-made link to Square, Toast or Clover.
- Tables split checks in the app. There's no split bill; each guest can order and pay for their own on their own phone.
Set up your pizzeria's QR code menu
- Create your store. Search for your pizzeria on Google to fill in the name, address and photos, or start by hand.
- Add your menu. Import it from a photo or PDF, then give each pie its sizes and prices.
- Build the topping groups. Add crust, toppings with an "up to" limit, dips, and Left half and Right half groups on build-your-own.
- Add your tables. Add them in bulk with a prefix such as "Table" or "Booth", up to 50 at a time.
- Print the codes. Download the table codes in one Excel sheet and your store link's code for the window and box lids.
- Test it. Order a half-and-half pie with double pepperoni from a table code and check the ticket the make line gets.
Table codes and ordering are free, with 0% commission.
FAQs
Can guests choose pizza sizes and toppings from a QR code menu?
Yes. Each pie has sizes with their own prices, and toppings sit in an add-on group with a limit you set, such as up to five. Guests can take two of the same topping, shown as Pepperoni ×2.
Can toppings cost more on a large pizza?
Not inside one item, because an add-on costs the same on every size. Price toppings at your middle size, or list your largest pie as its own item with its own topping prices.
Can customers order half-and-half pizzas?
There's no half-pie switch, but two optional topping groups work, with options named Left: Pepperoni or Right: Mushrooms. The kitchen ticket prints each option name, so the pie maker sees which half gets what.
How do I sell slices and whole pies?
List slices as their own items in a By the slice category and pies with sizes. Use a read-only code at the slice counter and table codes for seated guests.
Do I have to show calories on my pizza menu?
Only if you're part of a chain with 20 or more locations, under FDA's menu labeling rule. Pizza can be labeled per slice if the number of slices is on the menu too.
Is a QR code menu free for pizzerias?
Yes. Menuthere's Free plan includes table codes, menu codes and ordering, with up to 50 orders a month and 0% commission. Lite, at $17 a month, adds unlimited orders and card payments.
