Order delivered and order complete: WhatsApp templates
Updated October 20, 2026
A "delivered" or "order complete" WhatsApp message is a utility template as long as it only closes out the customer's order. Meta's own utility examples include one that starts "We have delivered your order {{order_number}}!" and asks the customer to reach out if there was an issue. That is the safe pattern: confirm, give the total, offer help. A "tap to reorder" push or a next-order discount makes it promotional, and Meta then files it as marketing, which costs more and is not delivered to US numbers. It costs about US$0.0034 per message to a US number as utility (Meta's rate card effective October 1, 2026).
In short
- Category: Utility, if it confirms delivery, the total and how to report a problem.
- Watch the Reorder button: Menuthere's default chat message ends with "Tap Reorder to order the same again". That is fine inside the 24-hour window, but leave it out of the template you submit to Meta.
- In Menuthere: the Order completed flow, with the order number, total and a Reorder quick reply.
- In the US, WhatsApp can send order updates but not promotions; use email for offers.
Three delivered / order complete wordings
{{customer_name}}, {{order_id}}, {{store_name}} and {{total}} come from Menuthere's order flows.
1. Delivered
Header: Order delivered
Hi {{customer_name}}, your order #{{order_id}} from {{store_name}} has been delivered. Total paid: {{total}}. If anything is missing or wrong, reply to this message and we'll sort it out.2. Picked up
Thanks for picking up order #{{order_id}}, {{customer_name}}. Your receipt total is {{total}}. Reply here if anything is not right with your food.3. Receipt link
Your order #{{order_id}} from {{store_name}} is complete. Tap View receipt to see the full bill for your records.

Wording 1, ready to paste. It follows Meta's own "we have delivered your order" utility example:
Name: order_delivered_delivered
Category: Utility
Language: en_US
Header (text): Order delivered
Body:
Hi {{1}}, your order #{{2}} from {{3}} has been delivered. Total paid: {{4}}. If anything is missing or wrong, reply to this message and we'll sort it out.
Body examples:
{{1}} = Maria
{{2}} = 1042
{{3}} = Luna Taqueria
{{4}} = $24.50Chat message vs template: why the wording differs
Menuthere's default Order completed message is a chat message, sent inside the 24-hour window. It can say things a utility template should not.
| Line | In the default chat message (inside the window) | In a utility template (outside the window) |
|---|---|---|
| "Order Completed!", order number, total | Yes | Yes |
| "We hope you enjoyed it!" | Yes | Fine: courteous, not promotional |
| "Tap Reorder to order the same again" + Reorder button | Yes, tapping it sends "Reorder" and returns the last order in one tap | Leave out: a push to buy again reads as promotion |
| "If anything is missing, reply here" | Not in the default; add it | Yes: Meta's own example asks about issues |
| A review link | Can be added with {{review_url}} | Yes, see the review request template |
What it costs per send
| Customer's number | Utility rate per message | Per 1,000 sends |
|---|---|---|
| United States and Canada | US$0.0034 | US$3.40 |
| United Kingdom | US$0.022 | US$22.00 |
| India | US$0.0014 | US$1.40 |
| Brazil | US$0.0068 | US$6.80 |
| United Arab Emirates | US$0.0157 | US$15.70 |
Meta's USD rate card effective October 1, 2026, read on October 20, 2026. Meta bills your own WhatsApp Business account; Menuthere adds no markup. Check any other country in the WhatsApp cost calculator.
Worked example: should a busy takeaway send it at all?
A takeaway with 800 delivery orders a month already sends the out-for-delivery message with a tracking link. Is the delivered message worth it?
| Option | Messages a month | US numbers | UK numbers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Out for delivery only | 800 | US$2.72 | US$17.60 |
| Out for delivery + delivered | 1,600 | US$5.44 | US$35.20 |
| Out for delivery + delivered with the review link in it | 1,600 | US$5.44 | US$35.20, and no separate review request to pay for |
For US numbers the second message costs US$2.72 a month, so send it. For UK numbers it doubles the bill; send it only if you put the review link in it, so it replaces a separate review request. Related: how do I handle a refund request on WhatsApp.
FAQs
Is an order delivered message a utility template?
Yes, if it only confirms the delivery, the total and how to report a problem. Meta's own utility examples include a message that starts We have delivered your order.
Can I add a Reorder button to a WhatsApp delivered template?
Keep it out of the utility template: a push to buy again reads as promotion and Meta may file the template as marketing. Inside the 24-hour window, Menuthere's default chat message already carries a Reorder button.
What does Menuthere send when an order is completed?
The Order completed flow sends Order Completed! with the order number and total, and a Reorder quick reply that returns the customer's last order in one tap. The flow starts switched off.
Is a delivered message worth sending?
For US numbers it costs about US$0.0034, so usually yes. For UK numbers at US$0.022, send it when it also carries the review link and replaces a separate message.
