The best free restaurant ordering apps, scored

These eight give a restaurant its own ordering app or page on a genuinely free plan, with no commission on orders — the restaurant pays only its payment provider's card fee. What the free plan caps (orders, menus, QR codes or branding) differs, so the scores below weigh how useful each free tier really is. Every limit and price here is each product's own, and paid plans are shown so you can see what you grow into.

The best free restaurant ordering apps, scored

1. Take App

Small restaurants, cafés and home kitchens in almost any country that already take orders on WhatsApp and want a free menu link with local payment methods.

Take App gives a restaurant a free menu link where customers order for delivery, pickup or at the table by QR code, and each order arrives as a complete WhatsApp message and in a dashboard and phone app. The Basic plan is free and saves 50 orders a month with unlimited products; Business is $50 a month, and neither takes a commission. It is sold in about 25 countries.

Customers pay through the restaurant's own gateway account. Take App lists 32 gateways, including Stripe, PayPal, Xendit, Razorpay, Paystack, Flutterwave, Mercado Pago, M-Pesa Express, HitPay, Adyen, Paymob and Tap, and 128 payment methods in all. The country pages list local methods such as M-Pesa, Airtel, Paystack, Flutterwave and Pesapal in Kenya, and Mercado Pago, OXXO, CoDi and Clip in Mexico. Manual methods (bank transfer, QR such as PayNow, cash on delivery, with payment-proof upload) work on the free plan. Automatic card payments need Business. Take App says it never holds the restaurant's money.

Includes: Own ordering website · QR table ordering · Pickup · Delivery orders · Your own drivers · Scheduled orders · Online payments · POS · Loyalty · Marketing tools · WhatsApp ordering or updates · Multiple locations · Reservations

  • Free Basic plan with 0% commission and unlimited products, and 0% commission on the $50-a-month Business plan too (Take App pricing page).
  • Takes no payment-processing fee on any method: the connected gateway charges its own rate and pays the restaurant directly (Take App help centre, Payment Processing Fee).
  • Local payment methods in many markets, for example M-Pesa, Airtel, Pesapal, Paystack and Flutterwave in Kenya; Paystack, Flutterwave and NIBSS/NQR in Nigeria; and Mercado Pago, OXXO, CoDi and Clip in Mexico (Take App country pages; 32 gateways on the integrations page).
  • The free plan saves only 50 orders a month to the dashboard. After that, orders still reach the restaurant's WhatsApp but are not saved to the dashboard (Take App pricing page).
  • Card payments, automated WhatsApp order updates, a custom domain, the delivery-fee calculator, courier and driver tracking, loyalty and analytics all need the Business plan at $50 a month (Take App pricing comparison and FAQ).
  • Business includes 1,000 automated WhatsApp messages a month. After that, each message costs $0.05, and each store over five costs $8 (Take App pricing page).

3. Menubly

Small cafés, food trucks and takeaways anywhere that want a low-cost menu link, QR menu and pickup/delivery ordering sent to WhatsApp or a simple dashboard.

Menubly is a self-serve online menu, QR code menu and one-page mini website builder for small food businesses. Its free forever plan includes a mini website, online menu, QR menu and online ordering for pickup and delivery, with orders in a dashboard or as a WhatsApp message. Pro is $9.99 a month (adds a custom domain and menu customisation), with 0% commission.

Online payments
Online payments go through Stripe. The restaurant connects its own Stripe account (Stripe Connect) and diners pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay and other methods Stripe supports in that country. There are separate help guides for businesses in the US and the UK. Restaurants can also collect payment manually (cash on delivery, bank transfer or a payment QR code) and send an invoice link from the order dashboard.

Includes: Own ordering website · Pickup · Delivery orders · Online payments · WhatsApp ordering or updates · Multiple locations

  • Published prices: a free forever plan that lists online ordering for pickup and delivery, and Pro at $9.99 a month or $95.99 a year. The FAQ says there is a 30-day free trial with no credit card needed (menubly.com pricing page).
  • No commission on orders. Menubly says it adds no fees on top of Stripe's card charges and charges nothing for manual payments such as cash on delivery or bank transfer (menubly.com pricing FAQ; help centre article on collecting payment).
  • Diners can pay online by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay and other methods through the restaurant's own Stripe account. Orders can also be sent to the restaurant's WhatsApp as a pre-filled message with items, total, customer name and phone, and the restaurant gets a WhatsApp message for each new order (help centre: Stripe, WhatsApp ordering and order management articles).
  • Dine-in QR ordering is limited. Menubly's guide says diners build a cart and show their phone to a waiter to place the order, one QR code serves every table with no table numbers, and each menu can use only one ordering mode at a time, dine-in or online (help centre: dine-in ordering with QR codes).
  • Order handling is basic. Orders are listed in a web dashboard where staff update order and payment status by hand. You can search orders but the help centre offers no filter by date or status, orders cannot be edited, and printing uses the browser's print function. Delivery is arranged by the restaurant, which copies the address into Google Maps or a delivery app (help centre: managing orders).
  • The pricing pages contradict each other. The plan table lists a free forever plan with online ordering, but the FAQ says that after the 30-day trial it costs $9.99 a month to keep all features, including online ordering. Pro includes only 1 online menu and 1 QR code menu; each extra menu, for example for another branch, costs $9.99 and is added by emailing or messaging Menubly (menubly.com pricing and online menu pages; help centre: creating an online menu).

7. Deonde

Restaurants that want to start free on a commission-free ordering site and later pay per outlet for a branded app, loyalty and their own drivers.

Deonde's restaurant product, Ressto, gives a restaurant an ordering website with QR table ordering and reservations. The Basic plan is free forever (100 orders a month, cash only, on a Ressto domain), and paid plans at $39 and $99 per restaurant a month add a custom domain, online payments and, on Scale, a branded iOS and Android app, loyalty and a driver app, all at 0% commission.

The restaurant connects its own gateway account and receives the money directly. Ressto lists Stripe, Razorpay, PayPal, SumUp, Xendit, Authorize.Net, Clover, USAePay, CardConnect and Bambora (Worldline), plus cash on delivery and pay at counter. Deonde's FAQ adds PayFort, Telr, Paystack, Flutterwave, MTN Mobile Money, M-Pesa, Apple Pay and Google Pay, saying gateways vary by region, and its country pages mention GCash and Maya (Philippines) and Lanka QR (Sri Lanka). Online payments need Ressto Growth or above; the free Basic plan is cash only.

  • The branded app, loyalty, delivery management and driver app are only on Scale ($99 per restaurant a month), and POS integration is not in Basic, Growth or Scale; Ressto's POS page says it is available on custom plans.
  • Deonde's own pages disagree on plan details: the Basic menu-item limit is 50 on deonde.co but 200 on ressto.co, and the Ressto FAQ describes a $39 'Pro' plan with a branded app, while the pricing page puts the app in the $99 Scale plan.

Online payments
Online payments depend on the country: D24 (cards, bank transfers and local methods) is available in most countries where OlaClick operates but not in Brazil; OlaPago, processed by dLocal, is available only to accounts in Peru; in Brazil the help centre covers PIX online through Tuna, credit cards through Stripe and Stone card machines at the POS. The Google Play listing also names Nequi, Daviplata, Mercado Pago and WebPay. Restaurants can also set up manual (offline) payment methods.

Includes: Own ordering website · QR table ordering · Pickup · Delivery orders · Your own drivers · Scheduled orders · Online payments · POS · Loyalty · Marketing tools · WhatsApp ordering or updates · Delivery-app integration · Multiple locations

  • No commission on orders: OlaClick charges only a fixed monthly fee, and the restaurant receives payments directly (OlaClick pricing page FAQ).
  • Low entry price: a free plan with 10 orders a month, and paid plans from US$9.90 a month on annual billing, priced in local currency in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru (OlaClick pricing page and 2026 plans article).
  • One product covers the ordering menu with its own domain, QR and table ordering, WhatsApp ordering and an AI chatbot, a POS with a waiter app, delivery management with a rider app, loyalty and, from the Premium plan up, a kitchen screen (OlaClick home page and pricing page).
  • Order caps on the cheaper plans: 10 orders a month on Free, 75 on Advanced and 400 on Premium; only Elite (US$59 a month on annual billing) and Infinity have unlimited orders (OlaClick 2026 plans article and pricing page).
  • The headline prices are for 12-month plans paid upfront; paying month to month costs more, for example US$12 instead of US$9.90 for Advanced (OlaClick pricing page).
  • Several tools are country-limited: OlaClick says online payments, POS integrations, delivery-app integrations and electronic invoices are available only in some countries; electronic invoicing is only for Brazil and Colombia, OlaPago is Peru-only and D24 is not offered in Brazil (OlaClick pricing page and help centre).

How we scored them

Every score, so you can check the order.

Ranked by total score, then by how generous the free plan is and how widely the app is sold. Take App, Menuthere and Menu Tiger lead; Take App ranks 1st for a 50-order free plan with ordering and WhatsApp and the widest reach. Menuthere scores 10 but is placed 2nd, not 1st, because it publishes this list. Menubly follows on 9. Square Online scores 8 because its free plan leans on Square's card rate per order (1 on fees) and adds QR only on paid. Deonde and OlaClick cap their free plans lower (100 and 10 orders), so they sit at the foot. Ties are broken by the free-plan order cap and the number of countries served.

How we chose them

What put a system on this list.

  • A system qualifies if its dated profile on Menuthere has a free plan, gives the restaurant its own ordering channel (an ordering website or QR ordering), is active, and takes 0% commission on its own orders.
  • Each system is scored on five criteria worth up to 2 points each (10 in all). The rubric and every score are in the table above, and each point comes from a fact in the system's profile. Card processing is left out because every provider charges it.
  • Menuthere, which publishes this list, has a free plan (50 orders a month, 0% commission), so it is ranked — at rank 2, never 1.
  • Prices are each company's own published prices on the date in its profile. The focus is the free plan; the paid 'from' price is shown for context.
  • Nobody paid to be on this list. Prices change: check each company's own page before you sign.

Questions

Answered, plainly.

Yes. Take App, Menuthere, Menubly, Menu Tiger, Menubarcode, Square Online, Deonde and OlaClick all have a free plan where a restaurant takes its own orders at 0% commission. The free plans differ in what they cap — orders a month, number of menus or QR codes, or whether online payments are included — so check the limit against your volume.

The apps on this list take 0% commission on the restaurant's own orders. Square Online's free plan relies on Square's card rate per order. In every case the payment provider still charges its own card or wallet fee; the ordering app itself does not take a cut.

It varies. Menuthere, Menu Tiger, Square Online and OlaClick support online card payments (Menuthere and Menu Tiger through the restaurant's own gateway). Take App, Menubly and Menubarcode lean on WhatsApp or manual payment on the free tier, and Deonde's free plan is cash-only. The profiles state each one.

Usually a cap and some branding. Free plans limit orders a month (50 on Take App and Menuthere, 75 on Menu Tiger, 100 on Deonde, 10 on OlaClick), or the number of menus, stores or QR codes, and some show a 'Powered by' badge until you pay. Online payments, a custom domain and extras like loyalty generally start on the first paid plan.

Take App lists about 25 countries and Deonde around 20, and Menuthere, Menubly and Menu Tiger sign up restaurants worldwide. Square Online covers its 8 countries, Menubarcode the MENA region and Pakistan, and OlaClick Latin America and Spain.
