Free Indian restaurant menu template for UK curry houses

Updated 20 October 2026

Copy the free Indian restaurant menu template below, fill in your curries, tandoori dishes, biryanis, sides and breads with £ prices, and print it on A4, or make it in our free menu maker and download a PDF. The layout puts each curry sauce on one line with a price for each protein, so the curry section needs one line per sauce instead of four, and adds a chilli key and a banquet for two. It also covers the allergens UK guests ask about most in Indian food: nuts, milk and mustard. Then put the same menu online, with a language button for Bengali, Hindi or Gujarati.

In short

  • A sauce × protein grid: "Korma · chicken £[__] · lamb £[__] · king prawn £[__] · vegetable £[__]" on one line instead of four.
  • A chilli key (mild, medium, hot) beside each dish, and a line saying any dish can be made milder.
  • Allergens: milk (ghee, cream, paneer, yoghurt), tree nuts (almonds and cashews in korma and pasanda), peanuts, mustard (seeds and oil), and gluten in naan.
  • VAT: dine-in food and hot takeaway curries are standard-rated at 20%; show prices including VAT.

In the printable menu maker, paste one dish per line with the price at the end. Each dish in the maker has one price or a set of sizes, each with its own price, so for the grid add the proteins as a curry's sizes: Chicken, Lamb, King prawn, Vegetable. A long menu flows onto extra pages without splitting a dish.

Allergens in Indian dishes

Allergen (FSA list)Where it often turns up
MilkGhee, butter, cream, yoghurt marinades, paneer, kulfi
Tree nutsAlmonds and cashews in korma, pasanda and peshwari naan; some sweets
PeanutsSome sauces, oils and snacks; check every supplier's label
MustardMustard seeds and mustard oil in tempering and pickles
Cereals containing glutenNaan, chapati, samosa pastry, bhaji batter if wheat flour is used
EggsSome naan doughs and egg dishes
CelerySome spice blends and stocks

You must tell guests if any of the 14 allergens are in a dish, in writing or with a sign telling them to ask; the FSA advises written information backed by a conversation. Nuts are the classic curry-house risk, so say on the menu which dishes contain them, and keep a full matrix made with the free allergen chart maker.

Prices and VAT

Food eaten in your restaurant is standard-rated at 20%, and HMRC lists "Chinese and Indian takeaway meals" as hot takeaway food, standard-rated too. Show every price including VAT. Pubs and restaurants must also display prices at or near the entrance under the Price Marking (Food and Drink Services) Order 2003. See VAT on takeaway food.

The same menu online, in more than one language

Upload this menu to Menuthere and each curry becomes one dish with a required protein choice and a spice-level choice, priced per protein; the banquet becomes one dish with "Choose your curries" groups. On Lite, the menu's language button translates your menu for customers into Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil and other languages you choose, and on every plan you can add a native-script name to each dish. See online ordering for Indian takeaways and multilingual menus in Hindi. For festival menus, use the Diwali menu template.

FAQs

Is this Indian restaurant menu template free?

Yes. Copy the layout into Word or Google Docs, or make it in the free menu maker and download a PDF, with no sign-up or watermark.

How do I keep a curry-house menu short?

List each sauce once with a price for each protein (chicken, lamb, king prawn, vegetable) instead of a line for every combination. A chilli key replaces long descriptions of heat.

Which allergens should an Indian menu show?

Check every dish against the FSA's 14 allergens. In Indian cooking, milk, tree nuts, peanuts, mustard, eggs, celery and cereals containing gluten come up most. Say clearly which dishes contain nuts.

Do Indian restaurant menu prices include VAT?

They should, if you're VAT-registered. Food eaten in and hot takeaway curries are standard-rated at 20%, so the menu price is what the guest pays.

Can my Indian menu be shown in Bengali or Hindi online?

Yes, on Menuthere's Lite plan. The language button translates the menu into Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil and other languages, and you can add native-script dish names on any plan.
