Do I need a refund policy for food orders?
Updated 18 October 2026
Yes, show one. Payment providers such as Stripe ask for a refund and cancellation policy on your website. In the EU the 14-day cooling-off rule does not cover perishable food, but say what you do for wrong or missing items.
- Stripe: it asks for refund, dispute and cancellation policies and contact details on your business website.
- EU: the 14-day cooling-off period does not apply to perishable goods such as food or drinks with a short use-by date.
- Say it plainly: write what you do for missing, wrong or late items.
- Put it where customers see it: link it from your ordering page.
