Why do courier fares go up at lunch and dinner time?
Updated 14 October 2026
Many on-demand couriers add a high-demand surcharge when many orders are booked at once, so the same trip can cost more at meal peaks.
- Lalamove Singapore example: an all-day high-demand surcharge applies per order, and its amount can change with demand, booking time and traffic.
- Other charges there: a flat S$0.50 platform fee per order and weekday CBD surcharges.
- This is one courier in one country. Check your own courier's price page.
- Set your customer fee with room to spare, not from an off-peak quote.
Set your own delivery fee
In your Menuthere dashboard you set what the customer pays for delivery, as a flat fee, by distance or free above a minimum order, and change it when courier prices move.
