Updated October 20, 2026
Open our free wine list template, add your wines with their glass and bottle prices, and download a print-ready PDF: it's the Classic design in burgundy with a Lora heading, wines grouped as sparkling, white, red and half bottles, and the 5-oz glass and bottle price on the same line. No sign-up, no email and no watermark. Below: how to write each wine's line, how many glasses a bottle gives, and the bottle sizes US law allows.
In short
- The template: Classic layout, burgundy, Lora heading; Sparkling, White, Red, Half bottles.
- A 750-ml bottle is 25.4 fl oz: five 5-oz glasses, with a little left over.
- US wine bottle sizes are fixed by law (27 CFR 4.72): 750 ml, 375 ml, 187 ml, 1.5 l and a set list of others.
- Wine prices away from home rose 1.8% in the 12 months to September 2026 (BLS).

How to write a wine line
One wine, one line, always in the same order so guests can scan:
Grape or name, region, vintage · two tasting words · glass price / bottle price
- Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 2023 · cherry, earth · $15 / $58
- Use NV for non-vintage sparkling wines.
- List wines from light to full within each section, so the list reads like a meal.
- Update the vintage when your supplier's bottle changes, and keep a "vintages may change" line at the foot.
Worked example: pours per bottle
A 750-ml bottle holds 25.4 fl oz. The NIAAA's standard pour of table wine is 5 fl oz (one standard drink at about 12% alcohol).
| Wine (template) | Glass | Bottle | 5 glasses | Bottle saves the table |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prosecco | $11 | $42 | $55 | $13 |
| Sauvignon Blanc | $12 | $46 | $60 | $14 |
| Pinot Noir | $15 | $58 | $75 | $17 |
| Cabernet Sauvignon | $16 | $62 | $80 | $18 |
Bottles are the better deal for a table of two or more, and you serve them in one trip. By the glass, an opened bottle has to sell out before it fades; if you pour a 6-oz glass, a bottle gives only four glasses (24 oz). Set your glass prices so that four or five glasses at least cover the bottle's cost even if the last pour is wasted. Run your numbers in the menu price calculator.
Legal wine bottle sizes in the US
The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau's standards of fill (27 CFR 4.72) allow these metric sizes for wine:
| Size | Common name | 5-oz glasses |
|---|---|---|
| 187 ml | Split, single serve | about 1 |
| 375 ml | Half bottle | about 2.5 |
| 750 ml | Standard bottle | about 5 |
| 1.5 l | Magnum | about 10 |
| 3 l | Double magnum | about 20 |
The full list also includes 50, 100, 180, 200, 250, 300, 330, 355, 360, 473, 500, 550, 568, 600, 620, 700 and 720 ml, and 1, 1.8 and 2.25 liters. Containers of 4 liters or more must be filled in whole liters. List the size next to any bottle that isn't 750 ml, as the template does for the half bottle.
