Pizza online ordering system for independent pizza shops
Updated October 19, 2026
A pizza online ordering system lets customers build their pizza on your own website: size, crust, sauce, toppings and the extra ranch. The order rings in your kitchen and prints a ticket, and the money goes to your own Stripe account, with no 15% to 30% delivery-app commission. Menuthere's Free plan takes 50 orders a month at 0% commission. Lite, at $17 a month, adds unlimited orders, card payments, pricing by distance and coupons.
In short
- Build-your-own works: one price per size, a required crust choice, toppings up to a limit, and double pepperoni as "Pepperoni ×2".
- Two limits to know: there's no half-and-half picture builder, and a topping costs the same on every size. Both have workarounds, below.
- Friday at 7 PM: orders ring until accepted, tickets print themselves, and you can switch off a pizza or close ordering in one tap.
- Delivery your way: your own drivers, or Uber couriers on your own Uber Direct account, with the customer paying Uber's fee at checkout.
- The math: 600 orders at $30 cost about $4,500 a month at a 25% app commission, and about $700 on Menuthere Lite with Stripe card fees.
Build your pizza menu: the setup sheet
This is how a typical independent pizzeria sets up a 12", 14" and 18" menu. Everything here is on the Free plan.
| Menu piece | Example | How you set it up |
|---|---|---|
| Categories | Specialty pizzas, Build your own, Wings, Sides, Salads, Drinks, Desserts | Categories, in the order customers should see them |
| Sizes | Cheese pizza: 12" $14, 14" $17, 18" $22 | Sizes (variants): one required pick, each with its own price |
| Crust | Hand-tossed, thin, deep dish +$2 | Add-on group, single choice, required |
| Sauce | Red, white, BBQ, no sauce | Add-on group, single choice, required |
| Toppings | Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, jalapeños +$2 each, up to 8 | Add-on group, multiple choice, "Up to 8", with "More than one of each" on, so double pepperoni is "Pepperoni ×2" |
| Wings | 6 $9, 12 $16, 24 $30, with sauce required and dips optional | Sizes plus two add-on groups |
| Combos | "Family deal: 2 large one-topping, wings 12, 2-liter soda" $44 | Its own menu item, with add-on groups for each pizza's topping |
| Upsells | Garlic knots and a soda suggested when a pizza goes in the cart | Recommendations on the pizza |
| Delivery price | Delivery costs $1 more per pizza than pickup | Delivery Price on each size |
| Lunch slice | "2 slices + soda" shown 11 AM to 2 PM only | Set Time on the dish |

The two limits, and how pizzerias work around them
1. No half-and-half picture builder. Customers can't tap a pizza diagram to put pepperoni on the left half only. Most shops add a required group called "Second half" with the same toppings list, plus a "Same as first half" option. It works, and the ticket reads clearly, but it isn't the split-pizza image the big chains show.
2. A topping costs the same on every size. Pepperoni at +$2 is +$2 on a 12" and on an 18". If your toppings cost more on a large, you have two choices:
| Option | How | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Separate build-your-own items per size | "Build your own 12"", "Build your own 18"", each with its own toppings group and prices | Shops with a strict price card per size |
| One topping price at your average | Toppings at, say, +$2.50 on every size | Shops that want the shortest menu |
Specialty pizzas don't hit this limit, because their toppings are in the price of each size.
Friday night, 6:30 to 8:30 PM
The rush is where an ordering system earns its keep or loses you money. Here's how to run it.
- Nothing gets missed. A new order rings on the Menuthere partner app, on Android, iPhone or the Windows counter app, until someone presses Accept. A browser tab alone doesn't ring, so keep the app open at the make line.
- Hands full? Auto-accept with a 30-second to 2-minute delay accepts the order if nobody does. Pair it with automatic printing so the ticket comes out on its own. Keep the dashboard open on the device the printer is attached to.
- Separate tickets. The kitchen ticket shows sizes, crusts, toppings and notes with no prices. The bill prints as a separate job, so it can go to the counter printer.
- Honest times. Set the average time customers see at checkout, such as 45 minutes for delivery and 20 for pickup. Menuthere shows what you type; raise it when you're slammed.
- Out of dough for deep dish? Switch off the deep-dish size, or the whole item, in one tap. It comes back when you switch it on.
- Too much at once? There's no automatic order cap. Switch off the slow items, or close the store for a while with the Open/Closed button. Customers can still see the menu.
- Big game day. On Lite, take pre-orders for a set time, such as "Sunday 4:00 to 4:30 PM", days ahead. Bookings due within the hour sit at the top of the Prebookings list.
Delivery: zones, miles and who drives
| How you deliver | What you set | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Your own drivers, one flat fee | A delivery radius and one charge | Free |
| Fee by distance, or a fee per zone you draw | Base fee plus a rate per km, price bands, or zones | Lite |
| Free delivery over an amount | For example, free over $40 within 5 km | Lite |
| Minimum order for delivery | For example, $15. It never applies to pickup. | Free |
| Your drivers with an app and live tracking | The rider app; customers follow the driver on a map | Pro, $39 a month |
| Uber couriers | Connect your own Uber Direct account. Checkout shows Uber's live fee and the customer pays it; Uber bills your Uber Direct account. | Every plan, outside India |
| Delivery only in the evening | Delivery hours, such as 5 to 10 PM, inside your opening hours | Free |
Distances in Menuthere are set in kilometers. If you think in miles, 3 miles is about 4.8 km and 5 miles about 8 km. To set fair fees, try the delivery fee calculator and read flat fee or per-distance. More on couriers: Uber Direct without Uber Eats.
Deals that work for pizza
| Deal | Example | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Coupon code | "TUESDAY20" for 20% off pickup on Tuesdays | Lite |
| Auto-applied deal | $5 off orders over $40, no code to type | Lite |
| Sale price on chosen pizzas | Specialty pizzas $3 off for 7 days, old price crossed out | Lite |
| Buy X get Y | Buy 2 large pizzas, get garlic knots free | Pro |
| Loyalty points | 5% back as points on every completed order | Pro |
| Fixed-price combo | "Family deal" as its own menu item | Free |
Coupons can be limited by weekday, minimum order, order type and number of uses, but not by time of day. For a lunch special, use a timed menu item instead.
What it costs: a worked US example
A busy independent shop takes 600 delivery orders a month at $30 on average, which is $18,000. Here's the monthly cost of each channel.
| Channel | Rate | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| DoorDash, Premier plan | 30% | $5,400 |
| Uber Eats, Plus plan | 25% | $4,500 |
| DoorDash, Plus plan | 25% | $4,500 |
| DoorDash, Basic plan | 15% | $2,700 |
| Menuthere Lite + Stripe | $17 + 2.9% + 30¢ per card order | $17 + $702 card fees = $719 |
App rates are each platform's published delivery commission and exclude any extra fees; Grubhub publishes its own range on our Grubhub commission page. Card fees are Stripe's standard US price, from your own Stripe account. With your own ordering you also carry the delivery: your drivers' pay, or an Uber Direct fee you pass to the customer at checkout. Run your own numbers, and check our DoorDash and Uber Eats pages. Outside the US, see Uber Eats in Canada or DoorDash in Australia.
Most shops keep the apps for new customers and move regulars to their own link: a flyer in every box, the link on Google, and a coupon for the second order.
Not a fit if
- You need half-and-half as a picture, or topping prices that change by size on one item. Use the workarounds above, or choose a pizza-specific system.
- Your POS must receive web orders by itself. Menuthere has no ready-made link to Toast, Square, Clover or other US POS systems. Orders arrive in the Menuthere dashboard and print from there. A POS add-on ($10 a month) rings up walk-ins, but it doesn't connect to a card terminal.
- You want tips at checkout for drivers. Menuthere doesn't collect tips at checkout.
- You need "sales tax" wording on the bill. Menuthere applies one tax rate per store and labels it GST or VAT.
- You want orders from several apps merged into one tablet. Menuthere handles your own channel; it doesn't pull in DoorDash or Uber Eats orders.

Set up pizza online ordering
- Create your store. Find your pizzeria on Google to fill in your name, address and photos.
- Import your menu. Upload a photo or PDF, or import from GloriaFood, then check each item.
- Build the pizzas. Add sizes, then required crust and sauce groups, and a toppings group with a limit.
- Set delivery. Pin your shop on the map, set your radius or zones in km, the fee and a minimum order.
- Connect Stripe (Lite). Customers pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, into your own Stripe account.
- Get the partner app. Install it at the make line so orders ring, and set up ticket printing.
- Test on a slow night. Order a build-your-own pizza for delivery and check the ticket, the fee and the payment.

FAQs
What is a pizza online ordering system?
It's your own ordering website where customers choose a pizza's size, crust and toppings, then pay and pick a delivery or pickup. The order goes straight to your kitchen, without a delivery app in the middle.
Can customers build their own pizza?
Yes. Each pizza has sizes with their own prices, and add-on groups for crust, sauce and toppings. A group can be required or optional, have a limit, and allow doubles such as two portions of pepperoni.
Can customers order half-and-half pizzas?
There's no half-and-half picture builder. Most shops add a required "Second half" group with the same toppings, so the kitchen ticket shows both halves.
Can topping prices be different on a large pizza?
Not on one item. An add-on costs the same on every size. Set up a separate build-your-own item for each size, or use one topping price at your average.
How much does a pizza ordering system cost?
Menuthere is free for 50 orders a month. Lite costs $17 a month for unlimited orders, card payments through your own Stripe account and fees by distance. There's no commission; Stripe charges its own card fee.
Can I use Uber drivers for my own website's orders?
Yes, with your own Uber Direct account. Checkout shows Uber's live delivery fee, a courier is booked when you accept or mark the food ready, and Uber bills your Uber Direct account.
Can I take pre-orders for game day?
Yes, on the Lite plan. Customers pick a date and time slot at checkout, and bookings due within the hour show at the top of your Prebookings list.
