Own delivery for Indian restaurants: your riders, Porter/Rapido and UPI at the door

Menuthere lets an Indian restaurant run its own delivery: add your delivery boys, assign an order to one in a single tap, let the customer track the rider live, and collect UPI or cash at the door — all at 0% commission. When your own riders are busy, Menuthere can auto-book a Porter or Rapido rider for that order instead. You keep the customer, the data and the full bill.

You don't need to build an app to run your own riders

Search "own food delivery app for restaurant India" and you get development agencies quoting ₹2.5 lakh to ₹80 lakh to build one, plus hosting and maintenance. You don't need a custom build to manage your own delivery boys. Menuthere already includes:

• an admin side where you add riders, assign orders and see each rider's deliveries;
• a rider app (Menuthere Delivery App, on Google Play and the App Store) your delivery boys install on their own phones;
• a customer-facing live tracking page.

How your own riders work

1. Add your delivery boys

Go to Settings → Ordering → Delivery boy settings and switch Use delivery boys on. Press Add delivery boy, enter their Name, Phone and a Password (or let Menuthere suggest one), and press Create rider. Their phone number is their username in the rider app, so use the number they carry. Running your own riders is on the Pro plan.

2. Give them the app

Press Download delivery boy app for the Google Play and App Store buttons and a QR code. Your delivery boy scans it, installs the Menuthere Delivery App, and signs in with the phone number and password. (A rider whose Taking orders switch is off can't sign in.)

3. Assign an order in one tap

On an order, press Assign rider (or Assign delivery in the orders list). Online riders are listed first. Assigning marks the order as dispatched and the button then shows the rider's name, so you can change it if needed. The rider gets a push titled New Delivery Assignment with the order number and drop address.

4. The customer tracks the rider live

Once the rider is on the way, the customer sees the rider's live position on the order page and can call them. When the rider marks the order delivered, the customer gets an Order Delivered notification.

5. See each rider's numbers

The Delivery boy settings screen shows, for the period you choose: riders, orders, order value, delivery charge and distance. Press Show deliveries on a rider for the order-by-order breakdown. Toggle Taking orders off to stop assigning to someone without deleting them.

When your riders are busy: Porter and Rapido overflow

You won't always have a free delivery boy. Menuthere connects your own Porter and Rapido accounts so a courier can carry the overflow (this is an add-on sold on request — ask Menuthere support to add it; Porter and Rapido are India-only).

• Connect each provider in Settings → Ordering → Porter & Rapido with your account's mobile number and an OTP.
• Pick the vehicle (Bike, Parcel or Scooty) and whether trips are paid from your Wallet or Cash.
• Choose Book a rider automatically (when the order is Accepted or Food ready, with an optional delay) — or leave it off and press Book rider on each order yourself.
• Decide what the customer pays: your own pricing or the live rider quote.
• Providers are tried one at a time. If none accepts, press Book rider to retry or assign one of your own riders.

A common setup: your own delivery boys handle nearby orders; far or peak-hour orders go to Porter/Rapido. You can also route deliveries by distance so near orders go to your riders and far ones to a courier.

Collect UPI or cash at the door

For orders paid on delivery, you choose what the rider shows at the door in Delivery boy settings → How the payment is collected:

The money goes to your account, not through Menuthere. At the door the rider taps Show QR in the app and the customer scans to pay. You can also take prepaid card/UPI/netbanking payments at checkout through your own Razorpay, Cashfree or Easebuzz account — again, 0% commission from Menuthere.

What you keep vs a delivery app: a worked example

Say you do 600 delivery orders a month at ₹350 average — that's ₹2,10,000 of food. Here is roughly what each channel costs. Zomato and Swiggy do not publish a single commission rate, so the figures below are illustrative reported ranges — check your own contract and statements.
