UK Delivery App Commission Index: what Just Eat, Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Foodhub charge restaurants
Updated 19 October 2026
Last updated: 19 October 2026. Every figure below is taken from each app's own UK pages or terms, and every £20 payout is worked out the same way.
UK delivery apps charge restaurants 13% to 35% commission plus 20% VAT on what each one publishes, and Foodhub says it charges no commission on a restaurant's own orders. On a £20 order delivered by the app's own couriers, Just Eat and Uber Eats each take £7.20 including VAT and Deliveroo's one published rate takes £8.40, leaving the restaurant £12.80 or £11.60. When the restaurant delivers itself, Just Eat takes £3.36 and Uber Eats £3.12.
In short
- Just Eat: 14% + VAT when you deliver, 30% + VAT when Just Eat delivers.
- Deliveroo: no standard UK rate published. The one rate in its terms is 35% + VAT (Marketplace+ with Deliveroo riders), charged on the VAT-inclusive order value.
- Uber Eats: 30% + VAT when Uber delivers, 33% + VAT for Uber One members, 13% + VAT for self-delivery and pick-up, plus a £650 + VAT activation fee.
- Foodhub: "no commission on your own orders"; you pay a set-up fee, a weekly rental and card fees, set in your agreement.
- VAT on commission is a real cost if you're not VAT-registered; a registered restaurant can usually reclaim it.
The index: UK delivery app fees for restaurants
| App | Commission (ex VAT) | Sign-up / activation fee | VAT on commission? | Per-order fees on top | £20 order, app's couriers: you receive | £20 order, you deliver (your own drivers): you receive |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Just Eat | 14% (your drivers); 30% (Just Eat delivers). No separate collection rate published | Conflicting on its own page: FAQ says no fee to join; the sign-up steps say £295 + VAT, taken from takings | Yes, 20% | None published on its sign-up page | £12.80 (£6.00 + £1.20 VAT taken) | £16.64 (£2.80 + 56p VAT taken) |
| Deliveroo | Set in each restaurant's agreement. The only published rate: 35% for Marketplace+ when Deliveroo riders are on | One-off joining fee; amount not published in its terms or FAQs | Yes, "plus VAT at the prevailing rate" | No separate card fee in its terms (payout = order value − fee − refunds) | £11.60 (£7.00 + £1.40 VAT taken), at the 35% published rate | Not published |
| Uber Eats | 30% (Uber delivers); 33% (Uber One members, Uber delivers); 13% (self-delivery); 13% (pick-up) | £650 ex VAT, once (may be lower if you opt out of items) | Yes: its prices "do not include VAT" | Payment processing included in all plans | £12.80 at 30% (£6.00 + £1.20 VAT); £12.08 at 33% (£6.60 + £1.32) | £16.88 (£2.60 + 52p VAT taken); pick-up is also 13% |
| Foodhub | 0% on your own website and app orders; Foodhub delivery commission not published | Set-up fee on your agreement form (amount not published); weekly rental, inc VAT, also on the form | n/a on own orders | Card fee listed at 3.4% + 20p per online transaction | Not published | £19.12 on a card-paid own order (88p card fee), before the weekly rental |
| Your own ordering page (for comparison: Menuthere with Stripe) | 0% | None on the Free plan | n/a | Stripe standard UK card: 1.5% + 20p | n/a | £19.50 on a card-paid order (50p card fee), before your plan fee |
How each £20 figure is worked out: £20 menu price (including VAT) × the app's published commission rate, plus 20% VAT on that commission where the app adds it, minus any published per-order fee. If you're VAT-registered and reclaim the VAT on the commission, add it back: Just Eat £14.00 / £17.20, Deliveroo £13.00, Uber Eats £14.00 / £13.40 / £17.40.
What the table doesn't include: offers you fund, ads, tablet or equipment charges, refunds, the VAT you owe HMRC on the food itself, and, for your own ordering page, the plan fee and any delivery costs. Your signed agreement and weekly statement are always the final word.
The VAT trap: commission is charged on the VAT-inclusive price
UK menu prices include VAT, and the apps charge commission on that full price. For a VAT-registered takeaway selling hot food (standard-rated at 20%), £3.33 of a £20 order belongs to HMRC, so the restaurant's own sales are £16.67. A 30% commission of £6.00 is 36% of that £16.67, before the VAT on the commission. See VAT on takeaway food.
Method
- Sources: only each app's own UK pages: partner sign-up pages, merchant pricing pages, merchant terms, policies and help centres. No third-party blogs, reviews or forum posts are used for any figure.
- Checked: 19 October 2026, except where noted below.
- Just Eat: its partner sign-up page blocked automated reading on 19 October 2026, so the Just Eat figures come from its latest readable copy, 13 July 2026, including its own £20 examples (£3.36 and £7.20). We'll recheck it by hand.
- Deliveroo: it doesn't publish a standard UK commission. We use the only rate in its published terms (35% + VAT for Marketplace+ with Deliveroo riders) and say so; every other rate is set per restaurant.
- Foodhub: commission-free on own orders by its own description; the card fee is from a Foodhub help-centre article (the article returned an error on 19 October 2026, so it is carried from our 11 October 2026 check).
- Calculation: £20 menu price including VAT, card-paid, one item, no offers. Commission × rate; VAT at 20% on the commission where the app's terms add it; per-order fees only where the app publishes them. Rounded to the nearest penny.
- Updates: we recheck every figure each quarter and whenever an app announces a change, and update the date at the top. Spotted a change? Tell us via the contact page.

Marketplaces bring new customers you might not reach otherwise. The usual approach is to stay on them for discovery and move regulars to your own ordering page. See how the three big apps compare in Just Eat vs Deliveroo vs Uber Eats for restaurants, and the alternatives to Just Eat, Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Foodhub.

How much does Deliveroo charge restaurants in the UK?
Deliveroo doesn't publish a standard UK rate; each restaurant's rate is in its own agreement. The only rate in its published terms is 35% plus VAT for Marketplace+ when Deliveroo riders are used, charged on the VAT-inclusive order value.
What is the Uber Eats commission rate in the UK?
