BentoBox pricing: what you really pay now that it is Clover-only
Updated October 20, 2026
BentoBox has never published a price, and since it became part of Clover you can only buy it if you run Clover POS. On October 20, 2026, getbento.com/pricing redirects to a page headed "BentoBox is now Clover", which says its products and services "are only available to Clover POS customers". So the real cost is three bills: a Clover POS plan (Clover's quick-service Starter bundle is $135 a month for 36 months, or $849 upfront plus $89.95 a month), a BentoBox quote, and Clover's card fees, which are 3.5% + 10¢ when card details are typed in (Clover pricing page, read October 20, 2026). Deliveries by DoorDash Drive add a flat $6.99 an order in most of the US.
In short
- No BentoBox price list. Its FAQ says pricing "depends on your restaurant's business goals"; plans are quoted by a specialist.
- Clover POS is now required. New customers are sent to Clover; existing customers buy add-ons through their customer success manager.
- Clover's own online ordering costs nothing extra with a Clover POS, so the BentoBox quote is what you pay for its designed website, catering, gift cards, reservations, events and email and SMS marketing.
- 0% commission on BentoBox takeout and delivery orders; card fees go through Clover Payment Processing.
- BentoBox has no long-term contract (cancel with 30 days' notice), but Clover's hardware promotion needs a 3-year contract.
What does BentoBox cost in 2026?
BentoBox's current page shows no plans at all. The plan names below come from its pricing page as archived on May 18, 2026, which listed them without prices. The Clover prices are from clover.com, read October 20, 2026.
| Item | Price | Billing | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| BentoBox Build Your Own | Quote only | Monthly, or 12 months upfront at 10% off | BentoCore plus any modules |
| BentoBox bundles, table service | Quote only (Foundations, Signature, Elevated) | Same | Website, ordering, catering, gift cards, reservations and marketing in increasing amounts |
| BentoBox bundles, counter service | Quote only (Foundations, Signature) | Same | Same idea for counter-service restaurants |
| BentoBox Initial Platform Setup | Not published | At signup | Onboarding manager, kickoff call, website design with two rounds of revisions |
| Clover quick-service Starter | $135/mo for 36 months, or $849 + $89.95/mo | Hardware promotion "Requires a 3-year contract" | POS hardware and software; "No-fee online ordering" |
| Clover full-service Starter | $179/mo for 36 months, or $1,799 + $89.95/mo | Same | Full-service POS bundle |
| Clover online ordering | No setup or subscription fee | Included | Needs a Clover POS device (Station Solo, Station Duo, Mini or Flex) connected to a printer; not on Payments Plus or Register Lite plans |
Why the Clover line matters. Clover's own ordering page says "There are no set up or subscription fees associated with Clover's online ordering solutions" for takeout, curbside pickup and dine-in. BentoBox's own online ordering product page now redirects to clover.com. If plain online ordering is all you need and you're already on Clover, Clover's built-in ordering may cover it; the BentoBox quote buys the rest of the package.
What fees come on top of the plan?
| Fee | Amount | Set by | Notes (read October 20, 2026 unless stated) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online card payments | 3.5% + 10¢ ("Card information typed in") | Clover | BentoBox publishes no separate online rate; payments run through Clover Payment Processing |
| In-person card payments | 2.3% + 10¢ (tapped, swiped or inserted) | Clover | Same Clover account |
| Commission | 0% | BentoBox | FAQ: takeout and delivery have "no commission fees" (archived May 18, 2026) |
| DoorDash Drive delivery | $6.99 up to 5 miles, +$1.00 a mile up to 10 miles (US outside California); $8.99 in California | DoorDash | Customer pays by default; DoorDash invoices the restaurant monthly; plus tips |
| Own drivers | No fee from BentoBox | You | Own drivers or DoorDash Drive, "Not at the same time"; no in-house driver app found |
| Setup | Not published | BentoBox | Initial Platform Setup with website design |
| POS hardware | In the $135 bundle, or $849 upfront | Clover | The upfront option still has $89.95 a month |
| Faster payouts | Rapid Deposit 1.75% | Clover | Optional, per Clover's pricing footnote |
| Contract | BentoBox: none, cancel with 30 days' notice; billing starts at signup (archived FAQ). Clover: 3-year contract for the hardware promotion, offer ending December 31, 2026 | Both | Check which agreement your quote sits under |
Worked example: 600 online orders a month on Clover plus BentoBox
The same assumptions as every pricing page in this series: one US restaurant, 600 online orders a month, a $30 average order, all paid by card online. That's $18,000 a month in card payments. B is your monthly BentoBox quote, because BentoBox publishes none. Clover's typed-card rate is used for online orders. The Menuthere columns use the restaurant's own Stripe account at Stripe's US rate of 2.9% + 30¢.
| Monthly cost | Clover Starter ($135 for 36 months) + BentoBox | Clover Starter ($849 upfront) + BentoBox | Menuthere Lite | Menuthere Pro |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| POS plan | $135 | $89.95 | Not included (optional POS add-on, $10/mo) | Not included |
| Ordering, website, marketing | B | B | $17 | $39 |
| Online card fees | 3.5% × $18,000 + 600 × 10¢ = $690 | $690 | 2.9% × $18,000 + 600 × 30¢ = $702 | $702 |
| Monthly total | $825 + B | $779.95 + B | $719 | $741 |
| First year | $9,900 + 12B | $849 + $9,359.40 = $10,208.40 + 12B | $8,628 | $8,892 |
What the arithmetic shows:
- Card fees are almost a wash. On a $30 order, Clover's 3.5% + 10¢ is $1.15 and Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ is $1.17. The difference between the columns is the POS plan and the BentoBox quote.
- Upfront hardware pays back over the contract. Over 36 months, the POS line is $135 × 36 = $4,860 on the monthly bundle, against $849 + $89.95 × 36 = $4,087.20 with hardware paid upfront: $772.80 less. Clover's page doesn't say what the $135 option costs after month 36.
- Paying BentoBox yearly saves 10%. Twelve months upfront costs 10.8B instead of 12B.
- Delivery is a pass-through. If 200 of the 600 orders went out with DoorDash Drive within 5 miles, DoorDash would invoice $1,398 a month (200 × $6.99), which customers pay by default.
This isn't like for like. The Clover column includes a full in-store POS with hardware, and the BentoBox quote includes a designed website, catering and marketing. Menuthere is an ordering system, not a full POS. If you need a POS anyway, compare the BentoBox quote alone against what you'd pay for ordering elsewhere.
When is BentoBox worth the price?
- You already run Clover POS. Then the extra cost is only the BentoBox quote, with one company for POS, payments and website.
- You're a full-service restaurant that sells more than takeout. BentoBox covers reservations, a digital waitlist, events, gift cards and online catering with group-order controls such as lead time, pacing and spend limits. Menuthere has no catering module and no gift cards.
- You want marketing in the same system. BentoBox includes email and SMS marketing. Menuthere has no email or SMS marketing campaigns.
- You want a designed website done for you, with an onboarding manager and two rounds of design revisions.
When is it the wrong fit?
- You aren't on Clover. You can't sign up, and switching POS to get BentoBox means a 36-month Clover bundle or an upfront hardware purchase.
- You want to see the price first. Neither BentoBox nor its bundles show a number.
- You run your own drivers and want a driver app. BentoBox's delivery options are your own drivers or DoorDash Drive, one at a time, and we found no app for in-house drivers.
How does Menuthere's pricing compare?
Menuthere doesn't need Clover or any POS and publishes every price. Free is $0 for 50 orders a month, with an ordering website, QR codes and QR table ordering, and no card needed. Lite is $17 a month: unlimited orders, your own domain, online payments on your own Stripe account, coupons, pre-orders, table booking and menus in several languages. Pro is $39 a month and adds WhatsApp order updates from your own number, a loyalty card, reviews, several outlets, and your own riders with a rider app for iPhone and Android and a live map for customers; you assign each order by hand. Branded App is $99 a month with your own Android and iOS customer app. Yearly billing is 10 months' price for 12, there's no contract, and 0% commission and no per-order fee on every plan. Outside India, Uber Direct can deliver on your own Uber Direct account, with customers paying Uber's live fee at checkout.
In the US, Meta does not deliver WhatsApp marketing messages to +1 numbers, so WhatsApp sends order updates (utility messages, about $0.0034 each, billed by Meta with no markup) but not promotions; use email for offers.
