Butlr alternatives: UK order at table apps compared.
Butlr, the Manchester order and pay app for pubs, bars and restaurants, was bought by OrderPay, which said it would move every Butlr venue to its own network by the end of March 2022. If you used Butlr, or are looking for a table ordering app now, the main UK options are Menuthere (QR table ordering on every plan, free to start, 0% commission), SumUp Order & Pay, Square Online, sunday and OrderPay itself.

What happened
What happened to Butlr?
Butlr was a UK app that let guests order and pay from their table by scanning a QR code, and pre-order for collection. It was used by pubs, bars, clubs and comedy venues, with a strong base in Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.
OrderPay, another UK order and pay company, announced that it had acquired the entire Butlr estate of 578 venues for an undisclosed amount, taking its own network to just over 3,100 venues. OrderPay said it would work with every Butlr venue to move to the OrderPay network by the end of March 2022.
- Not the same Butlr: Butlr Technologies, which you may find when you search, is an unrelated company that makes occupancy sensors.
- OrderPay today: OrderPay's website did not load when we checked on 20 October 2026. Its most recent archived home page (July 2026) describes Order & Pay, Pay & Go and Click & Collect for UK venues.
- Pricing: we found no published OrderPay price list, so it isn't in the table below.

Card fees are most of the cost for a busy pub, so compare the fee per payment first. Stripe's 1.5% + 20p is its standard rate for UK cards; non-UK and premium cards cost more on every provider.

Print one per table. Guests order from their phone, and a second round from the same guest is added to their open order. Every plan.

The dashboard shows which tables have an open order, and you can make a table view-only or block orders from outside the venue. Every plan.
Tickets for the bar and kitchen
Kitchen order tickets print on a thermal printer, by hand or automatically, and the partner app rings until you accept. Every plan.
Pay now or after
On Lite, guests pay by card on your own Stripe account, or you take payment after the meal. Tips and a service charge can be added.
Allergens and calories
Record the 14 allergens, calories and a halal mark on each dish. Guests see them before they order. Every plan.

Show a dish only at set hours, such as Sunday roasts, and switch off what has sold out. Every plan.
Be fair
When another app fits better.
Choose Square Online or SumUp if you already take card payments on their tills: table orders land in the same system. Choose sunday if paying the bill at the table matters more than ordering. If your venue moved from Butlr to OrderPay and it works for you, there may be no reason to move again.
Menuthere suits a pub, bar or restaurant that wants table ordering, takeaway and delivery from one menu at a fixed low price. It has no link to outside EPOS tills, no kitchen display screen and no delivery-app integration; its own counter POS is a basic US$10 a month add-on.
- Ask any provider for its full card fees, including premium and non-UK cards.
- Check the contract length and notice period before you sign.
- Make sure allergen information shows on the menu guests order from.
