Owner.com delivery: can you use your own drivers?
Updated October 20, 2026
Yes. Owner.com lets you deliver with your in-house drivers, third-party drivers, or both, but it has no app for your own drivers. Owner books third-party drivers that charge it "about $7" a delivery and passes that on to you at no markup. For your own drivers, Owner's mobile app lets you call or text the driver from the order ticket and switch delivery on or off; we found no driver app, dispatch screen or live map for in-house drivers on Owner's site. Delivery zones can be a radius, zip codes or a custom polygon that Owner Support sets up. Owner's plans are $249 a month plus a 5% restaurant fee per order, or $499 a month flat.
In short
- Three ways to deliver: in-house drivers, third-party drivers, or both.
- Third-party drivers: about $7 a delivery, charged to you at no markup.
- Owner's fee advice: guests pay delivery on orders under $30; on bigger orders you cover about $3; orders peak when guests pay at most $3.99.
- Your own drivers: call or text them from the ticket in the Owner app. No driver app found.
- Plans: Flexible $249 a month + 5% per order, or Flat Rate $499; guests pay a 5% order support fee on both.
What does Owner.com offer for delivery?
| Option | Who drives | What Owner says (read 20 Oct 2026) | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| In-house | Your staff | "Use your in-house delivery drivers, third-party, or both"; the Owner app can "call or text the delivery driver from the ticket" | Your wages; no Owner per-delivery fee published |
| Third-party | "Top third-party drivers" | "They charge us about $7 to help you offer delivery, which we charge directly to you at no markup from us"; Owner covers refunds for delivery issues | About $7 a delivery |
| Both | Mixed | Listed as an option on Owner's delivery page | As above |
Delivery zones (Owner help centre, 16 Apr 2026): radius, zip code or a custom polygon. You set radius and zip-code zones yourself; a custom polygon needs Owner Support.
Who pays the third-party fee, in Owner's advice:
- Under $30: let the guest pay for delivery.
- Over $30: you should cover about $3.
- Owner says its research shows most orders when guests pay at most $3.99.
What's missing for your own drivers?
- No driver app. We found none on Owner's site; the App Store app called Owner.com is the owner's command centre, not a driver app.
- No dispatch list for in-house drivers on the pages we read: contact happens by phone or text from the ticket.
- No customer tracking described for in-house deliveries. Owner's delivery page describes no tracking feature beyond a map image.
Worked example: 400 delivery orders a month
A restaurant on Owner.com does 400 delivery orders a month at a $35 average order ($14,000), with 250 orders under $30 and 150 over.
| Line | Flexible plan | Flat Rate plan |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | $249 | $499 |
| Restaurant fee, 5% of $14,000 | $700 | $0 |
| Plan cost | $949 | $499 |
| Third-party delivery, all 400 orders, you cover ~$3 on the 150 orders over $30 | 150 × $3 = $450 | $450 |
| Third-party delivery, guests pay in full on the 250 orders under $30 | $0 to you | $0 to you |
| Total with third-party drivers | $1,399 | $949 |
| Total with your own drivers (no third-party fee) | $949 + wages | $499 + wages |
What the numbers say:
- At $14,000 a month of online sales, Flat Rate is $450 cheaper than Flexible. Owner itself says Flat Rate suits "$5k+/mo in online sales"; below about $5,000 a month, 5% costs less than the extra $250.
- Owner's third-party pricing is simple: with its own fee advice, you'd pay about $450 a month for 400 deliveries and guests pay the rest.
- Guests also pay Owner's 5% order support fee on both plans, which adds about $1.75 to a $35 order.
Your own drivers' wages and mileage aren't in the table; run them in the own delivery cost calculator.
How do I use my own drivers on Owner.com?
- Turn on delivery in Owner and set your zones: a radius or zip codes yourself, or ask Owner Support for a custom polygon.
- Choose in-house, third-party or both. With both, decide which orders your drivers take (for example, short trips) and leave the rest to third-party drivers.
- Contact drivers from the ticket in the Owner app: call or text them with the order.
- Set your delivery fee with Owner's $30 / $3 / $3.99 advice in mind, or from your own cost per mile with the delivery fee calculator.
- Track results on Owner's dashboard and compare third-party cost per order with your drivers' cost per delivery.
When is Owner.com the better choice?
- You want it done for you. Owner's plans include the website, ordering, branded app, SEO pages, loyalty, marketing and 24/7 support, per its pricing page.
- You want third-party drivers at cost without managing them: about $7 a delivery, no markup, refunds for delivery issues covered.
- You're on month-to-month and don't want a long contract: Owner says no long-term contracts and no cancellation fees.
How Menuthere compares
Menuthere costs far less and gives your own drivers an app, but does less marketing for you. On the Pro plan ($39 a month, 0% commission):
- drivers use the Menuthere Delivery App on iPhone and Android and get a push notification for each order you assign;
- the customer's order page shows the driver's name, an arrival estimate, a live map and a Call button, with no app to install (how it works);
- no per-order or per-delivery fee from Menuthere, and no fee charged to your guests by Menuthere;
- outside India, you can connect your own Uber Direct account; Uber bills that account, not Menuthere.
What it doesn't do: you assign each order by hand (no auto-dispatch, route optimisation, batching or photo proof of delivery), and it doesn't build your website or run SEO and marketing for you the way Owner's plans do.
Menuthere Pro can also send WhatsApp order updates from your own number. In the US, Meta doesn't deliver WhatsApp marketing messages to +1 numbers, so WhatsApp sends order updates (utility messages, about US$0.0034 each) but not promotions; use email for offers.
