Does a home chef in India need FSSAI registration to sell on WhatsApp?
Updated 14 October 2026
Selling food needs an FSSAI registration or licence whatever channel you use, so WhatsApp does not change it. Small home food businesses register on FoSCoS.
- Petty food businesses include small-scale and cottage food businesses with annual turnover up to Rs 12 lakh and/or capacity under the stated limit.
- They come under the registration tier, applied for on the FoSCoS portal.
- FSSAI help desk: 1800112100.
- Check FoSCoS for current limits, fees and documents.
- Show your number on your page and orders.
