Is it safe to share customer phone numbers with delivery riders?
Updated 19 October 2026
Share only what the rider needs: the customer's name, address and a number for the delivery. Do not forward whole chats.
- Send the name, address and a contact number for that one delivery, nothing else.
- Do not forward the full chat. It can hold other details and messages.
- Tell riders not to save the number or use it for anything but the delivery.
- Remove old delivery messages from the rider's phone when the order is done.
- Where you can, let the rider work from an app instead of forwarded chats.
Give riders the delivery, not the whole chat
Your own riders get each delivery in the riders app with live tracking, so you do not forward chats or numbers by hand.
