September 2027 opens with the Labor Day weekend (Monday, September 6), starts National Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday, September 15, and ends with National Coffee Day on Wednesday, September 29. Mexican Independence Day is Thursday, September 16, and National Cheeseburger Day is Saturday, September 18. Football weekends fill every Saturday and Sunday, and Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Friday, October 1, so holiday catering orders have to open in September.

The food days come from National Day Calendar, a private registry, so treat them as marketing hooks, not official holidays. Labor Day is the federal holiday; National Grandparents Day and Hispanic Heritage Month are set by federal law.

Which September dates are worth a promotion?

Labor Day weekend, September 4–6

The last long weekend of summer. Sell meat by the pound and cookout packs for pickup on Saturday and Sunday (the Fourth of July menu templates have both), and post your Monday hours. Close pre-orders on Wednesday, September 1, so you can buy and cook. Ready line: "Labor Day BBQ: pre-order by Wed 9/1 for Sat 9/4 or Sun 9/5 pickup."

September 15 – October 15: Hispanic Heritage Month

Mexican Independence Day falls on Thursday, September 16, the day after the month begins. Coffee shops and bakeries get a weekday morning with built-in buzz. A buy-one-get-one is the classic offer; the worked example shows what it really costs. Rosh Hashanah starts two days later at sundown on Friday, October 1, so Jewish delis and bakeries should open holiday orders by mid-September. Ready line: "National Coffee Day, Wed 9/29: buy one latte, get one free for a friend."

Under CAN-SPAM, a promo email needs an honest subject line, your valid postal address and a clear way to opt out, and you must honor opt-outs within 10 business days (FTC). If your customers order on WhatsApp, keep it for order updates: Meta does not deliver marketing template messages to US (+1) phone numbers, so in the US WhatsApp sends order updates (utility messages, about US$0.0034 each), not promotions. Worked example: what a National Coffee Day buy-one-get-one really costs

These are example figures only. Use your own costs and prices.

On a buy-one-get-one, two lattes cost you $1.90 and you take $5.25, so cost rises to 36.2% and you keep $3.35 instead of $4.30 on a single sale. The free drink costs you its ingredients, $0.95, not its $5.25 menu price. Cap it with a use limit: 200 free lattes cost at most 200 × $0.95 = $190 in ingredients. How to run September promotions in Menuthere

1. Put the specials online (Free). Add BBQ by the pound, weekly regional specials and drinks, or upload a photo or PDF of your printed menu; AI reads the dishes and prices for you to check. 0% commission on every plan.
