October 1 and October 11: the Jewish High Holidays

Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Friday, October 1, and Yom Kippur at sundown on Sunday, October 10, ending after nightfall on Monday, October 11. Chabad describes Yom Kippur as a fast of nearly 26 hours followed by a festive after-fast meal, so Jewish delis and caterers sell holiday dinners for the first date and break-fast platters for the second. Open orders in mid-September and close them three days before. Ready line: "Break-fast platters for 10 or 20: order by Thu 10/7 for pickup Mon 10/11."

October 29 and 31: Diwali, then Halloween

Diwali falls on Friday, October 29, 2027, two days before Halloween. Indian restaurants and sweet shops should open sweet-box pre-orders around October 8 (see the Diwali menu templates); everyone else can run treat boxes and party trays from the Halloween menu templates. At a 30% target cost, $24.60 ÷ 0.30 = $82, so a price of $79 puts cost at 31.1% and $84 at 29.3%. Thirty trays at $79 bring in $2,370 against $738 of food and packaging.
