Wix for bakeries: Stores or Restaurants?
A bakery on Wix has two ways to take orders: Wix Stores, built for products, and Wix Restaurants Orders, built for menus. For a cake ordered for Saturday, each one covers different parts. Here is which does what, from Wix's own help pages.

The short answer
Pick the right Wix app before you build
Wix Stores treats each cake as a product. It allows up to 6 options with 100 choices each and up to 1,000 variants per product, so sizes and flavors with their own prices work. But Wix says its modifiers, such as a text box for the message, can't carry an extra price, and its pre-order button appears only when a product is out of stock.
Wix Restaurants Orders treats cakes as menu items. Modifiers can add a price, and you can set ordering to pre-order only with a lead time and windows up to 24 hours. That suits cakes ordered ahead, though notice is set for the ordering page rather than per cake.
Either way, you need a Wix plan that accepts payments to take orders online.

Wix checkout can take custom fields, but Wix notes that customers paying with PayPal may not see them. Menuthere doesn't take deposits or design-photo uploads; customers can send a photo on WhatsApp.

Priced personalization
On Wix Stores, "you cannot offer modifiers with varied pricing". A paid message or a gold topper becomes another option or variant instead.
Pre-orders tied to stock
Wix Stores' pre-order button shows only when the product is out of stock, which fits a product launch better than a made-to-order cake.
One lead time per ordering page
Wix Restaurants sets a lead time for ordering. With up to 5 ordering pages, some bakers make a separate cake page with its own lead time and keep daily bakes on another.
A plan before the first order
Wix says you must upgrade to accept online orders and payments. Core, Business and Business Elite list accepting payments.
A worked example
70 cake orders a month at about US$43 each
US$3,000 of orders a month, mostly collected, with priced extras. Wix prices its plans by country and shows them billed yearly, so the Wix plan is left as your country's price; Wix Payments' US card rate. Read on 20 October 2026.

Card processing is 2.9% of US$3,000 (US$87) plus US$0.30 on 70 orders (US$21); a similar card fee applies on any platform. Check Wix's price for your country on its plans page. Menuthere's yearly billing charges 10 months for 12.
When Wix is the better choice
Wix suits bakeries that want a showcase
You want a portfolio site: wedding cake galleries, a story page, a blog and press. Wix's editor is built for that kind of designed site.
You sell a small range of fixed products such as gift boxes, with options and their own prices. Wix Stores handles that well.
Use both: your Wix site for the gallery, with an Order a cake button that opens your Menuthere menu for dates, notice and collection.
