Free ordering systems, compared
Most free ordering systems come with a catch: an order cap, a card fee or a shutdown date. We compare the real options, then show what Menuthere's free plan includes, including its 50-order limit.
Free plan: 50 orders a month and 0% commission. Find your restaurant on Google and your menu and ordering site are ready to share.

The short answer
"Free" means five different things in this market. A plan can be free with no order cap, free up to a number of orders, free software with a fee on every card payment, a free trial, or free software you host yourself.
The limit sits in a different place each time. It may be an order cap, a fee on card payments, a badge on your menu or a shutdown date. Check those before you sign up.
Five kinds of free
Sort any tool into one of these before you compare prices. Each kind has a different catch.
GloriaFood's free plan has unlimited orders and locations and 0% commission, but it closes on 30 April 2027. Square Online costs $0 a month and earns from card processing. The catch: the vendor makes money elsewhere, or the product ends.
Menuthere gives 50 orders a month. Take App saves 50 a month to the dashboard. Ressto gives 100 a month, cash only. MENU TIGER caps QR orders at 200 and online orders at 250 a month. The catch: what happens at the cap differs by tool.
Square Online in the US charges 3.3% + 30¢ on the free plan and 2.9% + 30¢ on paid plans. DoorDash Online Ordering takes 0% on direct orders plus a standard processing fee, and needs a DoorDash Marketplace account. Webshop from Uber charges 2.5% + $0.29 per US order.
UpMenu has a 7-day trial and no free plan. Menufy and ChowNow charge from day one. Menuthere's Lite and Pro plans also start with a 7-day free trial, next to a separate free plan.
TastyIgniter is free software with no commission. Hosting and setup are yours to arrange, and premium extensions and support cost extra. It suits an owner with a developer.

The catches
Use these on any tool, including ours. A good vendor answers each one in a line.
Menuthere's menu stays online but turns view-only until the 1st of next month, or until you upgrade. Take App keeps sending orders to WhatsApp but stops saving them.
GloriaFood's payments add-on connects to your own gateway, so the money goes straight to you. Square Online takes its own card fee. On Menuthere, online payments use your own Stripe, Razorpay or Easebuzz account from Lite.
Menufy's help centre mentions a per-order convenience fee. Owner guests pay a 5% order support fee on both plans. Menuthere charges no per-order fee and 0% commission.
On Square Online a custom domain needs a paid plan. On Menuthere your site sits on a Menuthere link on Free, and your own domain comes with Lite.
Menuthere shows "Ordering by Menuthere" on the Free plan. Take App removes its logo on Business. Ask what is shown to your customers.
Ask whether you can export your customer list and order history. On Menuthere the Free plan keeps the last 30 days of orders, and full history and customer export start on Lite.
Oracle will retire GloriaFood on 30 April 2027, and new sign-ups are closed. If you are moving from it, see the GloriaFood alternative page.
How to start
You do not need a developer. The whole path happens in your browser.
Search for your business from its Google listing on this page, or add it by hand.
Import it from a photo, a PDF, an Instagram page or a Google link, then fix any item.
Turn on takeaway, delivery and dine-in. For delivery, set your area and fee with the basic zones on the free plan.
Put the link on your Google listing, Instagram and WhatsApp, and print the QR codes for the tables. Orders ring on the partner app until you accept them.
