Commission-free ordering
Delivery apps can keep 15% to 30% of an order. Menuthere takes 0% on every plan. Customers order from your own website or QR code, and you pay only your payment gateway's fee.
Find your restaurant on Google and your menu and ordering site are ready to share.

The basics
Commission-free means the ordering platform takes no percentage of your order value. It does not mean an order costs nothing. A direct order still has a payment gateway fee when the customer pays online, your delivery cost, and what you pay for the software.
On Menuthere, commission is 0% on every plan, with no per-order fee and no contract. The Free plan is $0 and includes 50 orders a month. Lite is $9 a month for unlimited orders and online payments. Pro is $39 a month. Lite and Pro have a 7-day free trial. See the full list on the pricing page.
An app's headline rate is not the whole bill. Business Standard reported on 30 July 2026 that total deductions on a Zomato or Swiggy order run from 25% to over 35% once 18% GST on the commission, gateway charges, promotion fees, packaging and restaurant-funded discounts are added. Its worked example of a ₹500 order leaves the restaurant ₹287.70.
Here are two sums from published rates. On a US$30 order, Uber Eats US Plus at 25% takes US$7.50. Paid by card on a US Stripe account, the gateway fee on the same order is US$1.17. A ₹500 order paid through Razorpay at 2% costs about ₹10, plus GST on the fee. These are worked examples, not quotes.
What the apps take

What the law says
A few cities and places cap what apps may charge restaurants. A cap limits the commission. It does not remove it.
| Place | What the app may charge a restaurant | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| New York City | 15% for delivery, 5% for basic service and 3% for transactions. An optional enhanced service can add up to 20% more. | Platforms must let a restaurant include menus, coupons or other marketing materials with any online order. |
| San Francisco | 15% of the order in total. | The cap does not apply to a platform that offers every covered restaurant a core delivery option at 15% or less. |
| Seattle | 15% for delivery inside city limits. | Higher fees only for services beyond delivery. |
| Portland, Oregon | 15% for delivery and 4% for pickup. | In force since 1 March 2023. |
| Washington, DC | 15% for core delivery, or 5% where the platform does not deliver. | Applies per online order. |
| British Columbia | 20% for platforms with 500 or more restaurants. | Enhanced services above 20% need the restaurant's consent. |
| Kuwait | 17% when the app delivers, 10% when the restaurant delivers. | Press reports say a first-instance court annulled the penalties article in late September 2026, and the ruling may be appealed. |
We found no commission cap in the UK, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Singapore or India as of 30 September 2026. After US cities capped fees in 2020, NBC News reported that DoorDash added per-order Regulatory Response Fees of $1 to $2.50 for customers in 57 of the 68 capped places it checked. Laws change, and this is not legal advice.
Direct and apps together
Most restaurants keep the apps for discovery and send regulars to their own link. Each app's agreement is different, so read yours before you change anything. This is not legal advice.
Apps bring people who have never heard of you. The commission to cut is the one you pay on regulars who would have ordered anyway. Uber Eats US's merchant FAQ says you can use it alongside another delivery platform.
Your website and QR codes send direct orders to one dashboard and a partner app that rings until you accept. On Pro, customers can also order through WhatsApp on your own number. Zomato, Swiggy and talabat orders are not pulled in; they stay in those apps' own tablets.
Menuthere is not a marketplace, so strangers do not find you through it. It supplies no riders. Online payments run on your own Stripe account outside India, or Razorpay and Easebuzz in India. Where Stripe is not available, take cash or pay at pickup.
Zomato's terms, last updated 19 September 2025, have no price-parity clause in the menu section but say you will not give preferential treatment to customers ordering independently. Zomato dropped its price-disparity charge in April 2026. Uber Eats US terms bar a higher price on its app than on a competing app. Kuwait bans clauses that force your lowest price onto one app.
Deliveroo's partner policy lists flyers and branding for your own channel in its bags as not acting in good faith. New York City requires platforms to let restaurants add menus, coupons or marketing materials to any online order.
Zomato's terms limit marketing with app customer data to people who were already your customers or who opt in. Uber Eats lets customers choose to share their details, and marketing follows only after they opt in. Notice to leave is 7 days at Zomato and 60 days at Uber Eats US, and you cannot leave Uber Eats US while an Offer or Sponsored Listing is live.
The honest part
Four things: the gateway fee on online payments, delivery, your plan, and your own time. Here are the gateway fees in the places Menuthere owners ask about most.
| Where | Gateway | Fee on an online payment |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Stripe | 2.9% + 30¢ per domestic card payment. |
| Canada | Stripe | 2.9% + CA$0.30 per domestic card payment. |
| United Kingdom | Stripe | 1.5% + 20p on standard UK cards, 2.8% + 20p on premium cards, 3.15% + 20p on international cards. |
| UAE | Stripe | 2.9% + AED 1.00 per domestic card payment. |
| Australia | Stripe | 1.7% + A$0.30 on domestic cards, falling to 1.65% + A$0.30 from 1 October 2026. |
| India | Razorpay | 2%, plus GST. Merchants activated on or after 1 July 2026 get the first 90 days at 0%, on up to ₹5,00,000. |
| India | Cashfree (Pro, set up for you) | 1.95% on UPI, cards, netbanking and wallets. |
| India, UPI | UPI rule from NPCI | No MDR up to ₹2,000. From 15 October 2026, 0.4% above ₹2,000, capped at ₹300. Merchants may not pass it on to customers. |
Fees as read on 30 September 2026. Stripe lists no setup, monthly or hidden fees. Stripe does not list Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman or Egypt, so take cash, pay at pickup or your own payment link there. For delivery you use your own staff or book a courier. Free has basic delivery zones and fees. Lite adds fees by distance and delivery areas drawn on a map. Pro adds your own riders app with live tracking, plus Shiprocket and Adloggs.
How to do it
Do these in order. Your own regulars decide how fast orders move, so track your numbers each month.
Import your menu from a photo, PDF, Instagram or Google link. Switch on takeaway, delivery and dine-in. Install the partner app for Android or iPhone, which rings until you accept an order.
A Google Business Profile can carry up to 10 food-ordering links, and you can mark one as Business preferred. Providers must remove their link within 5 business days of your request. Google's help pages mention no fee for these links.
Share your menu link and print QR codes for bills, table cards and the shop window. On Pro, customers send Hi on WhatsApp and get an Order Now button that opens the menu already signed in. See how to make a WhatsApp link.
Run a first-direct-order offer with coupons on Lite, or loyalty points and buy X get Y on Pro. Read what a good order-direct-and-save offer looks like.
Check the flyer rules above first. Then a card or QR code at the counter, on the bill and at each table is the cheapest place to reach a regular.
Direct orders give you names and phone numbers, and Lite exports the customer list. Keep the apps for discovery, and count each month how many regulars order direct and how many arrive through the apps.
