Uber Eats Manager for restaurants: sign-up, set-up and fees (UK, 2026)
Updated 19 October 2026
Short answer: Uber Eats Manager is Uber's back office for restaurants and shops. You use it on the web (merchants.ubereats.com/manager) or in its mobile app to edit your menu, hours and prep times, see orders, sales and payouts, run offers and ads, read customer feedback and give staff access. You take orders in a separate app, Uber Eats Orders, usually on a tablet. You get access once Uber has approved your restaurant and sent you an invitation email.
In the UK, Uber Eats charges 30% + VAT when Uber delivers (33% on Uber One orders) and 13% + VAT for self-delivery or pickup. A one-off £650 + VAT activation fee covers your tablet, printer, menu set-up and photos.
This guide explains how to sign up, what each part of Uber Eats Manager does, the fees, and how to fix common problems. It's written for UK restaurant and takeaway owners, not customers or couriers.
Checked 11 October 2026 against Uber Eats' UK merchant pages (pricing, FAQ and Manager learning centre). Your order form is the final word.

Uber Eats Manager vs Uber Eats Orders
Owners often mix these two up. They have different logins.
| Uber Eats Manager | Uber Eats Orders | |
|---|---|---|
| What it's for | Running your business: menu, hours, payments, reports, marketing, users | Taking orders in real time during service |
| Where it runs | Web browser (merchants.ubereats.com/manager) or the Uber Eats Manager app | Usually a tablet. Uber says it can also run on other mobile devices or a laptop/desktop |
| Who uses it | Owner, manager, bookkeeper | Kitchen and counter staff |
| Login | The email and password you used when you signed up | Different login details from Manager |
| Typical tasks | Change prices, set holiday hours, download a payout report, launch an offer | Accept an order, mark an item sold out, print a ticket, mark "Ready" |
If your restaurant uses an integrated EPOS, orders can go straight into that system instead. In that case, Uber says you shouldn't edit your menu in Uber Eats Manager, because the menu is managed through your EPOS.
How to sign up for Uber Eats as a restaurant
1. Fill in the interest form. On Uber Eats' UK merchant site, enter your shop name and address. Uber asks for your business details, the number of locations and your estimated weekly takeaway orders.
2. Uber reviews your application. Uber says it can't partner with every merchant that applies. A team member checks four things:
- Are you a licensed business selling prepared food (or essentials/convenience items)?
- Are you in an area Uber Eats covers?
- Are you not already on Uber Eats?
- Did you include a copy of your menu?
3. Choose how you'll deliver. Uber's couriers, your own staff, or pickup only. This sets your commission rate (see the fees section).
4. Agree the activation package. The £650 + VAT activation fee covers a tablet, printer, menu creation, professional photos, a window sticker, a welcome pack and an activation training call. Uber says the fee "can be adjusted" if you opt out of items such as photos or equipment.
5. Sign your order form. Read it first. The UK merchant terms set a one-year initial term that renews automatically. The terms leave termination to clause IV of the order form, so check the notice period and exit terms there.
6. Accept your Uber Eats Manager invitation. New users get an email from welcome@uber.com with "You've been invited to manage" and your shop name in the subject line. Use the link to set up your login.
7. Finish your set-up in Manager. Check your menu, prices, photos, opening hours and preparation time. Add your bank details and tax (VAT) details for invoices, and upload any documents Uber asks for in Settings → Documents.
8. Set up your tablet. Log in to Uber Eats Orders on the tablet Uber sends, or on your own device. Turn up the volume, turn on auto-print if you want tickets, and do a test run with your team.
9. Go live. Uber says new shops may be tagged "New" in the app for their first 2 weeks. Use that window to get good ratings: accurate orders, quick prep times and well-packed food.
How long does it take? Uber doesn't publish a UK timeline on its merchant pages. Having your menu, bank details and VAT details ready speeds things up.
What documents does Uber Eats ask for?
Uber's UK pages ask for just your menu up front and don't publish a full document list. Have these ready in case Uber asks for them during set-up:
- your full menu with prices (Uber asks for this in the application)
- business details: legal name, address and, if you have one, your Companies House number
- business bank account details for payouts
- your VAT number, if you're VAT-registered
- your council food business registration and food hygiene rating (Uber's UK pages don't state a minimum rating)
- photo ID for the owner, if requested
Every UK food business must register with its local council at least 28 days before it starts trading. That applies to delivery-only and online sellers too.
What you can do in Uber Eats Manager
Here's what each section of Uber Eats Manager does, based on Uber's UK learning centre.
| Section | What it does | Owner tip |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Today's summary: sales, number of orders and average order size | Check it after each service |
| Orders | Live, scheduled and past orders | Use it to answer "where's my order?" questions |
| Menu | Create or edit menus, categories and items | Keep prices and photos the same as your other channels where you can |
| Shop info | Name, address, phone, holiday hours and pick-up instructions | Clear pick-up instructions cut courier waiting time |
| Webshop | Uber's own online shop for delivery and pick-up orders from your website | Uber doesn't publish UK fees for these orders, so ask before you promote it |
| Performance: Sales | Revenue and sales across channels | Compare weeks, not days |
| Performance: Operations | Inaccurate orders and refunds | Your biggest hidden cost. Fix repeat mistakes |
| Performance: Top Eats | Your progress towards the Top Eats badge | The badge can raise your visibility in the app |
| Customers | New, returning and lapsed customer groups, plus feedback | Read feedback weekly |
| Ads and Marketing | Create ad campaigns and offers | Every offer and ad costs you money. See the fees section |
| Payments | Your pay breakdown and earnings | Check fees and adjustments on every statement |
| Reports | Download payment, operations and feedback reports | Send payment reports to your bookkeeper |
| Users | Give team members access by role | Give staff only the access they need |
| Settings | General settings, holiday hours, preparation time and documents | Set holiday hours before every bank holiday |
Menu changes: open Menu in Manager to add, edit or remove items. If your EPOS is integrated, make changes there instead.
Sold-out items during service: on the Orders app, mark an item out of stock from the order screen so customers can't keep ordering it.
Multiple shops: to add another site, tap your restaurant name in Manager and choose Add shop.
Mobile app: Uber Eats Manager is also a phone app, so you can check sales and make changes away from the restaurant.
Taking orders on the Uber Eats Orders tablet
- A new order arrives. The screen flashes green and plays a sound. Tap it to see the details.
- Check the order type. A tag shows pick-up or dine-in. No tag means delivery.
- Accept it. Press Accept when everything is right. Print a ticket with the print icon, or turn on auto-print in Settings.
- Mark sold-out items. Use the menu next to an item to mark it out of stock.
- Mark it ready. Tap Ready when the food is packed.
- Hand it over. A sound alerts you when the courier arrives. Check the customer's name and order number before you hand it over.
- Need more time? Use the Adjust order menu to change the ready time.
Keep the tablet charged, connected to Wi-Fi and loud enough to hear in the kitchen. A missed order hurts your rating.
Uber Eats fees for restaurants (UK)
| Fee | Amount | Notes |

| Uber delivers, Uber One member orders | 33% + VAT | You can't choose which customers are Uber One members |
| Self-delivery | 13% + VAT | Your own drivers |
| Pick-up | 13% + VAT | Customer collects. Not available for virtual brands |
| Activation fee | £650 + VAT, one-off | Tablet, printer, menu creation, photos, window sticker, welcome pack and training call. Can be adjusted if you opt out of items |

| Offers | You fund the discount, plus a fixed redemption fee per use | Commission is charged on the discounted price |
| Ads (sponsored listings) | Charged per click | Taken from your payouts |

With 20% VAT, 30% becomes 36% and 13% becomes 15.6% if you aren't VAT-registered. On a £25 order, Uber delivery takes £9.00 including VAT, and self-delivery or pickup takes £3.90. For the full breakdown and a calculator, see the Uber Eats commission rate UK page. For hot vs cold food, read VAT on takeaway food.
When does Uber Eats pay restaurants?
Uber's UK merchant FAQ says payments are made weekly by direct deposit. The remittance period runs Monday to Monday, and banks usually take 1–2 days to process the payment. New or changed bank details can add up to an extra week. Uber's UK merchant terms also describe marketplace transfers on a "bi-weekly basis", so check your order form for your schedule.
You'll find every statement, with an order-by-order breakdown of tax, fees, adjustments and net payout, in Payments in Uber Eats Manager.
Uber Eats merchant cash advance
Uber offers Merchant Financing to eligible UK restaurants. It's provided by Pipe, not Uber. Eligible restaurants see the offer in Uber Eats Manager. Pipe charges a flat fee rather than interest, and takes a fixed percentage of your Uber Eats sales from each payout until the advance is repaid. There's no hard credit check, but Uber notes the cost may be higher than a traditional loan. Compare the total cost with a bank loan or overdraft before you accept.
Uber Eats restaurant support (UK)
| What you need | Where to go |
|---|---|
| Help with orders, payments or your menu | Chat support inside Uber Eats Manager |
| Help articles | Uber's Restaurants and Merchants Help Centre (help.uber.com/merchants-and-restaurants) |
| Lessons on using the platform | Uber's Merchant Academy |
| UK restaurant support phone number | Uber's UK merchant FAQ lists no phone number. It points to chat in Manager, the help centres and a contact page |
Can't log in?
- Check you're using your Manager login on the web or Manager app, and your Orders login on the tablet. They're different.
- New user? Look for the invitation email from welcome@uber.com, including in your spam folder.
- Use "forgot password" on the login page.
- Never share your login with someone who contacts you out of the blue claiming to be from Uber.
How to keep direct orders while you use Uber Eats
Uber Eats is great for reaching new customers. But paying up to 33% + VAT every time a regular reorders adds up. At 300 orders a month at £25 with Uber delivering, Uber takes £2,700 a month including VAT.
Use Uber Eats for discovery, and give regulars a cheaper route, within your agreement:
- Set up your own ordering page. Menuthere's online ordering system gives you a branded page for collection, delivery and dine-in, with 0% commission. The Free plan covers up to 50 orders a month. Card payments go through your own Stripe account on Lite and above. On every plan, including Free, you can tag the 14 UK allergens, calories and a halal mark on each dish, and customers see them when they open it.
- Run self-delivery or pickup on Uber where you can. 13% + VAT is less than half the Uber delivery rate.
- Promote your own channel on your own channels. Google profile, Instagram, shop window, counter and the bags for orders you take yourself. Check your Uber Eats agreement before you put marketing inside Uber orders, and never use Uber customer data for your own marketing.
- Make reordering a WhatsApp message. Customers send "Hi", tap Order Now and get automatic updates. This is a Pro feature. Meta bills your own WhatsApp account per message, and Menuthere adds no markup. See WhatsApp ordering.
- Deliver direct orders yourself. Use delivery zones (basic zones on Free; advanced zones with pricing by zone on Lite and above) and the riders app with live tracking (Pro).
