Can my restaurant website save customers' card details in India?

No. Since 1 October 2022, only card issuers and card networks may store card details in India. Saved-card checkout works only through tokens.
- Merchants and payment aggregators may keep card data only until about T+4 days or settlement, whichever is earlier.
- The rule comes from an RBI notification, RBI/2022-2023/95.
- Do not collect card numbers in a form or a chat. Let your payment gateway handle the card.
- A returning customer sees a saved card only through the gateway's token system.
- Ask your gateway how it handles saved cards before you promise the feature.

On Menuthere, customers pay online through your own Razorpay or Easebuzz account in India. You never need to ask for card numbers in chat.
