Can someone stick a fake QR code on my tables to steal payments?
By the Menuthere editorial team · Last updated
Yes, it has happened elsewhere. The FBI warns that criminals replace real QR codes to steal data or redirect payments.
- Check every table code at the start of each shift for a sticker laid over it.
- The FTC warned in September 2026 about scammers sticking their own codes over parking-meter codes.
- Sapaad suggests one verified code per table, so any extra code stands out.
- Scan your own codes now and then and check the web address they open.
- Ask guests to tell you about any code that opens a page that does not look like yours.
One code per table that is yours
Menuthere table QR codes open your own ordering link, so each table has one code that you print from your dashboard and can check at a glance. A code that looks different is not yours.
