What is geo-fencing for QR table ordering, and which systems offer it?
By the Menuthere editorial team · Last updated
Geo-fencing is a location check that only accepts a table order from a phone near your restaurant. It stops prank orders from people far away.
- It checks where the guest's phone is when they order, and refuses orders from outside the restaurant.
- OrderIt says only guests physically inside the restaurant can order from a table.
- Menulux, from Turkey, accepts orders only from people within a set distance.
- Toast's published pages describe no location check, so ask any provider before you choose one.
Stop prank table orders
Menuthere can check a diner is at the restaurant before a table-QR order goes through. It is a setting in your dashboard, so orders from far away are stopped.
