What does WhatsApp do before it blocks my restaurant's WhatsApp API number?
Updated 13 October 2026
WhatsApp usually sends a warning first. Repeat breaches bring short sending blocks, then an account lock or permanent removal.
- Warning: you first get a warning that names the policy you broke.
- Short blocks: 1 or 3 days with no marketing, utility or authentication templates, or 5, 7 or 30 days with no messages at all.
- Lock or removal: a lock lifts only through an appeal. Permanent disablement follows if you make no changes after repeated warnings.
- Complaints: WhatsApp may limit or offboard a business that gets excessive negative feedback from users.
- Appeal: if you believe you comply, request a review in Business Support Home. Reviews typically take 24 to 48 hours.
