QR code menu for restaurants in Pakistan
Updated October 19, 2026
A QR code menu lets diners scan a code on the table, read your menu in rupees on their phone, and send the order to the kitchen without waiting for a waiter. Menuthere's digital menu and table QR codes are free for up to 50 orders a month, with 0% commission. In Pakistan, payment then happens at the counter or table on your own card machine, Raast QR or cash, because Stripe doesn't open accounts in Pakistan and Menuthere doesn't connect JazzCash, Easypaisa or Raast. That matters for tax too: in Sindh, restaurant sales tax drops from 15% to 8% when the diner pays by card, mobile wallet or QR.
In short
- Rupee prices on the menu, with photos, sizes (half and full karahi) and add-ons.
- Sindh sales tax on restaurants: 15% since 1 July 2024, or 8% when paid by debit or credit card, mobile wallet or QR (SRB). Other provinces set their own rates.
- Payment stays at the counter, so the right rate is applied by your POS when the diner pays.
- Urdu dish names: type them yourself as each dish's second name, on any plan. Automatic translation doesn't include Urdu.
- Free plan: digital menu, table QR codes and up to 50 orders a month.
Sindh: why the payment method changes the bill
The Sindh Revenue Board's page on restaurant services sets the sales tax at 15% from 1 July 2024 (up from 13%). It drops to 8% when the bill is paid by debit card, credit card, mobile wallet or QR scanning. Restaurants on SRB's "List A", whose point of sale is integrated with SRB, may charge 15% on all payments and claim input tax.
Islamabad (FBR) and Punjab (PRA) set their own restaurant rates and their own rules for card payments, so check your provincial authority before you print a menu.
Worked example: a family dinner in Karachi
A family of four orders a full chicken karahi, naan, raita and drinks for Rs 4,000 before tax.
| Pays in cash | Pays by card, wallet or QR | |
|---|---|---|
| Food and drinks | Rs 4,000 | Rs 4,000 |
| Sindh sales tax | 15% = Rs 600 | 8% = Rs 320 |
| Bill | Rs 4,600 | Rs 4,320 |
| Menuthere commission | Rs 0 | Rs 0 |
Paying digitally saves this family Rs 280. That's a reason to print your Raast QR or card-machine sign right next to the table QR code.
How to show tax on a Menuthere QR menu in Pakistan
Menuthere has one tax rate per store and can't switch the rate by payment method. Because payment happens at the counter, the simplest honest set-up is:
- Enter menu prices before tax and leave Charge tax on orders off in
Settings → Payments & tax, so checkout doesn't add a rate that might be wrong. - Tell diners how tax works in your menu's announcement bar (Lite) or header text, for example: "Prices exclude sales tax: 15% cash, 8% card, wallet or QR." See fonts and announcement bar.
- Issue the tax invoice from your POS at the counter, where the payment method is known and SRB integration lives.
If you're on SRB's List A and charge 15% on every payment, you can instead set 15% as the store rate, and checkout shows the tax line. See Tax: GST and VAT.
How diners pay
| Payment | With a Menuthere QR menu | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Card machine at the table or counter | Diner orders by QR, pays the waiter or cashier, you mark it paid | Free |
| Raast QR, JazzCash or Easypaisa code at the counter | The diner scans your printed code. Menuthere doesn't connect or confirm these, so check the payment before marking it paid. | Free |
| Cash | Pay at the counter | Free |
| Online checkout inside Menuthere | Not available in Pakistan today | — |
You can send Menuthere a request for the gateway you'd like added. See no Stripe in your country and Stripe isn't in my country.
Urdu and English on the same menu
Many Pakistani restaurant menus mix English and Urdu: "Chicken Karahi" with چکن کڑاہی. Menuthere's automatic language button doesn't include Urdu, so:
- Keep the English (or Roman Urdu) name as the main name, the way diners search for it.
- Add the Urdu name as the dish's second name, on any plan. It shows on the line below in layouts that display it, and on the cart and order.
- Use sizes for half and full portions, so one dish has both prices. See sizes and portions.

Which QR code to print
| Code | Best for | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Digital menu QR | Reading only, at the door, on the counter or on parcels | Free |
| Table QR | Ordering from the table; the order prints in the kitchen with the table number | Free, 50 orders a month; unlimited on Lite |
Turn on geo-lock so table orders can only be placed from inside your restaurant. See stop orders from outside and the digital menu booklet. Print table cards with the table QR card maker.
