QR code menu for restaurants in the Philippines

Updated October 19, 2026

A QR code menu lets diners scan the code on the table and read or order from your menu on their phone, without downloading an app. Menuthere's digital menu and table QR codes are free, priced in pesos, with up to 50 orders a month and 0% commission. In the Philippines there is one thing to know first: Stripe doesn't open accounts there, so Menuthere has no online checkout for Philippine stores. Diners order from the table and pay at the counter, where your BIR-registered system issues the invoice and handles senior citizen and PWD discounts.

In short

  • Peso prices: DTI says prices must be stated in pesos and centavos. Set your currency to PHP.
  • VAT 12%: if you're VAT-registered, set 12% and mark dishes VAT inclusive so the menu shows the price diners pay.
  • Senior citizens and PWDs get a 20% discount and VAT exemption on restaurant meals. Apply it at the counter, where the receipt must show the breakdown.
  • Payment at the counter: there is no built-in GCash, Maya or card checkout. Diners pay cash, by your own QR Ph code or at your terminal.
  • Free plan: digital menu, table QR codes and up to 50 orders a month.

Two ways Philippine restaurants use a QR menu

1. Read-only digital menu (Free). One QR code for the whole restaurant opens a swipe-through menu booklet with photos, prices in pesos, your hours, a Call button and WhatsApp. Diners order with your server as usual. It's the cheapest way to replace sticky, worn-out laminated menus, and you never reprint when prices change. See the digital menu booklet.

2. Table QR ordering. Each table gets its own code. The diner orders from the phone, the order rings in your partner app with the table number, and the kitchen ticket prints. Second rounds join the same running order. On Free, the first 50 orders a month are included; after that the table codes switch to browse-only until the 1st of the next month, unless you move to Lite (US$17 a month) for unlimited orders. See set up QR table ordering and Free plan limits.

Make table tents with the table QR card maker and put a Wi-Fi QR code next to it, so diners on mobile data can still load the menu.

VAT, invoices and the BIR

  • VAT is 12%. Businesses above the ₱3,000,000 VAT threshold register for VAT. Under the EOPT Act the threshold is adjusted every three years for inflation.
  • Invoices replace official receipts. Since RR No. 7-2024, the official receipt is a supplementary document. VAT-registered sellers issue an invoice for every sale, and non-VAT sellers must issue one for sales of ₱500 or more.
  • Menuthere is not a BIR-registered invoicing system. Its QR order is your kitchen ticket and order record. Keep issuing invoices from your BIR-registered POS or CAS.

In Menuthere, set Charge tax on orders to 12%, switch on Call it VAT instead of GST, and mark dishes Tax Inclusive. Checkout then shows VAT (included) for information without changing the total. See tax-inclusive prices.

Worked example: a barkada of four with one senior citizen

Four friends order sisig, kare-kare, rice and drinks totalling ₱2,240, VAT included, split evenly at ₱560 each. One of them is a senior citizen. According to BIR guidance, senior citizens get a 20% discount and VAT exemption on restaurant food, and the receipt must show the breakdown.

LineSenior citizen's shareOther three diners
Menu price, VAT included₱560.00₱1,680.00
Remove 12% VAT (₱560 ÷ 1.12)₱500.00—
20% senior discount on ₱500−₱100.00—
Pays₱400.00₱1,680.00

The bill for the table comes to ₱2,080 instead of ₱2,240. The QR order arrives in your dashboard at full price. Apply the discount at the counter in your BIR-registered system, and check the senior's ID there. A person who is both a senior citizen and a PWD gets only a single 20% discount. For shared dishes and group orders, check BIR RMC 71-2022 on how the senior's share is worked out.

How diners pay

Stripe's supported countries don't include the Philippines, and Menuthere uses Stripe for online payments outside India. So:

PaymentWith a Menuthere QR menuPlan
Cash at the counter or tableOrder by QR, pay your cashier, mark it paidFree
Your own QR Ph, GCash or Maya code at the counterThe diner scans your printed code to pay. Menuthere doesn't confirm these payments, so check your app before marking it paid.Free
Your card terminalPay at the counter as usualFree
Online GCash, Maya or card checkoutNot available in Menuthere today—

You can send Menuthere a request for the gateway you use; requests decide which gateway is built next. See no Stripe in your country.

English and Filipino on the menu

Most Philippine menus are in English with Filipino dish names. Menuthere's automatic language button doesn't include Filipino, so type your menu the way your diners read it: "Sinigang na baboy" as the dish name, with "Pork in tamarind soup" as its second name, on any plan. See dish names in a second language.

Put the QR on your foodpanda bags too

foodpanda doesn't publish its Philippine commission; public sources put it at about 25–30%, plus a platform fee of about ₱1,000 a month. On a ₱600 delivery order:

FAQs

Is there a free QR code menu for restaurants in the Philippines?

Yes. Menuthere's Free plan includes a digital menu, table QR codes and up to 50 orders a month at 0% commission, with no card needed.

Can diners pay with GCash or Maya through the QR menu?

Not inside Menuthere. There is no built-in GCash, Maya or card checkout in the Philippines. Diners can scan your own GCash, Maya or QR Ph code at the counter, and you mark the order paid.

How do senior citizen discounts work with QR orders?

The QR order reaches you at full price. At the counter, remove the 12% VAT from the senior's share and take 20% off, then issue the invoice from your BIR-registered system with the breakdown shown.

Can Menuthere issue BIR invoices?

No. Menuthere isn't a BIR-registered invoicing system. Use it for the menu, orders and kitchen tickets, and issue invoices from your BIR-registered POS.

Should prices on my QR menu include VAT?

If you're VAT-registered, set 12% and mark dishes VAT inclusive so the menu price is what diners pay. DTI also says prices must be stated in pesos and centavos.

Can my QR menu show Filipino dish names?

Yes. Type the Filipino name as the main name and add an English description or second name. Automatic translation into Filipino isn't available.
