Squarespace for restaurants
Squarespace makes good-looking restaurant sites, and its menu block shows your dishes. It has no restaurant ordering of its own: Squarespace's restaurant guide points to extensions such as ChowNow, Allday Ordering and Tock, or an Order Now link.
Free plan: 50 orders a month, 0% commission, no card needed.
Free plan, 50 orders a month, 0% commission. Paid plans from US$17 a month.

The short answer
Squarespace's strength is design: templates, photography and a menu block that lays out dishes and prices. For a restaurant that wants a beautiful site and takes bookings by phone, it is a fine choice.
Taking orders is another matter. The menu block shows the menu but doesn't take orders. Squarespace's restaurant guide lists Allday Ordering, ChowNow (available in the US and Canada, on Core and higher plans), OpenTable and Tock, which needs its own subscription. Squarespace Commerce can sell food as products, but its pickup option doesn't let customers schedule a time.
So most restaurants on Squarespace use it as the shop window and send the Order Now button somewhere else. That somewhere can be a restaurant ordering page with 0% commission.
What Squarespace gives a restaurant
Read on support.squarespace.com on 20 October 2026.
| Feature | What Squarespace says | What it means for a restaurant |
|---|---|---|
| Menu block | Menus with sections, items and prices; price variants written with a slash | A display menu, not an ordering menu |
| Ordering | Allday Ordering, ChowNow, OpenTable and Tock in the restaurant guide; ChowNow in the US and Canada only, on Core and up | Ordering runs in another company's system |
| Pickup | Free local pickup; "Customers can't schedule a pickup time." | No "ready at 12:30" for takeaway |
| Local delivery | Delivery by ZIP or postal code, with an optional fee | No delivery by distance or drawn zones |
| Options | Up to 6 options and 250 variant combinations per product; up to 4 add-on products | Fine for sizes, tight for a build-your-own dish |
| Printing | Print up to 100 orders at a time; receipts can't be customized | No kitchen tickets or automatic printing |
| Fees on store sales | Basic: 2% transaction fee; Core, Plus and Advanced: none | Plus card processing on every plan |
The restaurant gaps
Squarespace's restaurant guide points to extensions. Squarespace notes that extensions fall outside its own support, so problems go to the extension's maker.
ChowNow on Squarespace is available in the US and Canada only. Squarespace Payments works in 15 countries; elsewhere you connect Stripe or PayPal.
Squarespace Commerce pickup has no time slots, so takeaway for a set time needs an ordering extension.
Tock's reservations block needs a Tock subscription, with bookings managed in Tock. OpenTable has its own block.
Squarespace prints orders by hand, up to 100 at a time, and its receipts can't be edited. Kitchen tickets come from the ordering system you add.
The menu block holds names, descriptions and prices. Allergen labels are something you write in the text.
A worked example
Squarespace's plan prices are set by country, so this example compares the per-sale fees, which Squarespace publishes. Squarespace Payments' US domestic card rates, read on 20 October 2026.
| Plan | Squarespace transaction fee | Card processing (US domestic) | Fees on US$10,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Squarespace Basic | 2% = US$200 | 2.9% + US$0.30 | US$200 + card fees |
| Squarespace Core | 0% | 2.9% + US$0.30 | Card fees only |
| Squarespace Plus | 0% | 2.7% + US$0.30 | Card fees only |
| Squarespace Advanced | 0% | 2.5% + US$0.30 | Card fees only |
| Menuthere, any plan | 0% | Your gateway's own rate | Card fees only, plus a flat US$0, US$17 or US$39 a month |
Squarespace plan prices are listed in your currency on its pricing page, which offers savings for paying yearly. An ordering extension such as ChowNow or Tock is priced by its own company on top. Menuthere's yearly billing charges 10 months for 12.
When Squarespace is the better choice
Your website is your brand: chef's story, photography, press and events. Squarespace's templates do that beautifully, and you don't need to move.
You sell a few products such as gift cards or merch: Squarespace sells digital gift cards, and every plan can sell products.
Use both: keep Squarespace and point its Order Now button at your Menuthere ordering page. It's the same pattern Squarespace's own restaurant guide describes, with 0% commission.
