What do I need for Verifactu in my restaurant?
By the Menuthere editorial team · Updated
Verifactu is Spain's verifiable-invoicing system from the tax office (AEAT, RD 1007/2023). After the RD-ley 15/2025 deferral, it is mandatory from 1 January 2027 for companies and 1 July 2027 for the self-employed. To comply you need certified invoicing software. Menuthere is not certified Verifactu invoicing software: it is the QR-menu and commission-free own-ordering layer, and it sits alongside your certified POS. Updated October 2026.
- Verifactu requires anyone using invoicing software to issue verifiable invoices and receipts (RD 1007/2023).
- Dates (RD-ley 15/2025): 1 January 2027 for companies; 1 July 2027 for the self-employed.
- Glop and Ágora state they are Verifactu-compatible; confirm certification with each vendor.
- Menuthere does not issue the verifiable invoices the rule requires: it does not replace a certified POS.
- You can use Menuthere alongside your POS: invoice with the POS and take commission-free direct orders with Menuthere.
Commission-free orders alongside your certified POS
Menuthere is not your Verifactu invoicing software. What it does is give you a QR menu and commission-free direct orders that sit alongside the certified POS you invoice with. You invoice with the POS; the direct orders, at 0% commission, come through Menuthere.
From when is Verifactu mandatory?
The regulation (RD 1007/2023) sets the requirements for invoicing software, and RD-ley 15/2025 (of 2 December 2025) deferred the start date. It affects anyone who uses software to issue invoices and receipts, which includes practically every bar, restaurant and café. Check your case with your accountant, because the date depends on whether you are a company or self-employed.
| Who | Verifactu mandatory from |
|---|---|
| Companies (corporate tax) | 1 January 2027 |
| Self-employed (personal income tax) | 1 July 2027 |
Who this is a good fit for
- Owners who already have (or will buy) a certified POS and want to add commission-free direct orders.
- Restaurants that want to understand the Verifactu dates before deciding which software to buy.
- Places that separate invoicing (their POS) from online orders (a commission-free layer).
Who this is not for
- Anyone expecting Menuthere to be the software that issues Verifactu's verifiable invoices: that is a certified POS, not Menuthere.
- Places that want a single system to invoice and run the register; that is a POS, not an ordering layer.
Common follow-up questions
Do the QR menu and online orders fall under Verifactu?
Verifactu governs the software that issues your invoices and receipts, not the menu or the ordering link. The invoice comes from your certified POS; Menuthere gives you the QR menu and commission-free direct orders.
What if my software isn't Verifactu-compatible?
From its mandatory date, the invoicing software you use must meet the rule. Check with your accountant and POS vendor; Menuthere is not that invoicing software.
Can I use Menuthere if I already have a certified POS?
Yes. That is the recommended setup: invoice with your certified POS and take commission-free direct orders with Menuthere. They don't replace each other.
