Who pays for the discounts customers see on delivery apps?
By the Menuthere editorial team · Last updated
Often the restaurant pays. Zomato's terms say discounts under its Promotions are completely funded by the restaurant, and Deliveroo's UAE terms say restaurants fund the offers they run.
- Zomato does not guarantee how many people see or use a promotion, and you can opt out at any time.
- Deliveroo UAE works out its fee on the undiscounted price. Offers and marketing tools are deducted from your payouts.
- In Türkiye, the trade ministry says discounts are voluntary and there is no penalty for staying out. Commission is charged on what the customer pays.
- Read the discount line on each payout statement, and ask the app in writing if it is unclear.
- Discounts on your own link come from your own margin, and you choose when to run them.
Run offers on your own terms
You decide when to run an offer on your Menuthere link, with 0% commission taken from the order. No app decides your discount for you.
