Does the European Accessibility Act apply to my restaurant's ordering website?
By the Menuthere editorial team · Last updated
It covers online services sold to consumers from 28 June 2025, but a microenterprise (fewer than 10 staff and turnover or balance sheet up to €2 million) is exempt. This is how Ireland applies it; check your own country.
- The rules apply to e-commerce services: sold at a distance through websites and mobile services, at a consumer's request.
- Ireland's regulation says the accessibility requirements do not apply to a service provided by a microenterprise.
- A microenterprise has fewer than 10 persons and turnover or a balance sheet total not above €2 million.
- Contracts agreed before 28 June 2025 may run unchanged until they end, for up to five years.
- Each EU country applies the act in its own law, so check your national rules or ask an adviser.
